2 Goal: To develop certified operators who can independently and efficiently operate and troubleshoot the facilities that they are assigned to.

Must pass MES pre-test exam Attempt to pass a Class 1, 2, or 3 Water or wastewater exam or another exam as recommended by the Regional

Regional, complete a walk-thru of the main facility to which they are assigned. Explain the facility process and operations Identify the treatment units and the process control tests for all process units Conduct a facility performance audit Demonstrate knowledge of compliance audit requirements Must pass a Class 1, 2, or 3 Water or Wastewater exam, or another exam as recommended by the Regional 1,800 hrs BY THE END OF YEAR THREE OIT 3 15% increase Fourth volume to be chosen by mentor Accompanied by a Regional or Asst. Regional, perform a regulatory compliance audit at all facilities that the OIT works Pass either a Class 4 water or Class 4 or 5 wastewater exam or pass all the small system exams for the facilities that the OIT works if there are no Class 4 water or Class 4 or 5 Wastewater facilities in the assigned region Has met 2nd year exam requirements but has additional exam requirements to meet within 24 months. Or Operator 21.6% (from OIT 2 salary) Meets the requirements for Operator position Has passed three exams as designated by their regional supervisor NA

5 OIT Program OITs will receive two hours per week during work time to complete course work OITs will be assigned a Mentor

6 Mentors will be carefully selected by the Water/ Wastewater Group
will be required to attend a training program will be given documents/checklists that clearly detail what is expected of them for each year they will service as a Mentor will receive a $500 per year bonus for each OIT they Mentor who successfully completes program requirements

7 Additional Support Performance measurements (monthly meetings to monitor progress) Computerized certification exams Study guides Pre-exams OITs will register for certification exams with recommendation/approval of training manager
