Remember that s count as professional writing (please no “SUP LEAH” or “hey teacher”* greetings) Please identify which class section you are in (011 or 015) In your subject line, please put the name of the course (1302) I answer s during regular business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm), but send them anytime (no judgement for 3am s) I try to respond to all s within 24 hours (not counting weekends) *yes, these actually happen

4 Logistics We meet once a week (Mondays)
All other work is due asynchronously (via RaiderWriter or occasionally ) I am available to you as a resource throughout the week (office hours, s, etc.), as is our course blog (1302heilig.wordpress.com) This class is FAST-PACED, start working on your schedule now! Also contact me right away if you are having difficulties with assignments or content

5 Required materials First-Year Writing textbook (2015/2016, 9th edition, TTU Custom) The St. Martin’s Handbook (2015/2016, 8th edition, TTU Custom) Regular access to the internet RaiderWriter account

6 RaiderWriter You will receive an prompting you to set up a RaiderWriter username and password. You need to do so IMMEDIATELY (within 24 hours of receiving the ). If you have trouble setting up your username and password, refer to the RaiderWriter FAQ ( ed by instructor) and “reset” your password. Assignment due dates/submissions, course schedule, attendance, and grades will be accessed here

7 attendance Allowed 2 absences without penalty to either participation or overall grade Every exceeded absence will result in a deduction of participation points (-5) and overall grade (-5% per absence) If you are absent, please check the Daily Agenda posted on the course blog, and me if you have questions (I do not need to know why you were absent) “Excused” absences

8 Participation Worth as much as a final draft (weight: 8)
Points can be earned/lost throughout the semester (see Heilig’s Syllabus) Is more than butt-in-chair time Excessive tardies (being more than 10 minutes late to class) will result in deductions

9 Grading Your assignments will be graded by myself, another classroom instructor (CI), and two document instructors (DIs) Please contact me if you ever have questions regarding feedback or assessment I do not curve grades (ex: 79% would stay a C) in the interest of fairness to all students You are always able to discuss your grades with me outside of class time (office hours, , etc.)
