1 Week 1: Warm Up 8/22 Get out a piece of notebook paper and answer the questions below. ( At least 2 sentences for each) What is history? Can history change? Why do many students think history is boring? How can teachers make history more interesting for students? Write down two interesting facts about YOU or your life. Make one the truth and one a LIE.

Always write the Unit and Date New Page not front to back They will be taken up at the 4 times through the semester.

4 Important to Remember! This Course is a graduation requirement.
You will be required to take the NCFE. Stay Focused!

5 Make Up Work: What did I Miss?
Once You Return- Go to the student table and find the folder for the day(s) you missed. You have five days to turn in all missing assignments. If you are absent the day the assignment is DUE (not assigned) it is due the next day you are in class. Major Projects, Essays, Papers are expected to be on time. (Turn them in early if necessary) e

6 In Class Assignments In class assignments will not be accepted
for a late grade! Turn in Homework assignments on your way in or on your way out.

7 Always Turn Something in…
Pink Slip: Located at the Student Center If your dog eats your homework make sure you turn in a Pink Sheet. If you don’t take them time to feel out the pink sheet, you can not submit it for a late grade. This will be used to keep organized as well as parent conferences.

8 Late Work Turn in all assignments on time!
Late Assignments will be accepted for a late grade On Time: 100% 1 Day Late maximum grade- 50% (F) Late work after 1 day will not be accepted! No Excuse for Zero’s! Get it turned in!

9 Test Corrections During Teal
Only if you are present the day of the Test ^ Not a punishment 65 or below

11 Cell Phones Drive Me Crazy
I do NOT want to take your phone.. But I will! Put them in your book bag prior to the bell ringing. Do the CRIME, you do the TIME! Cell Jail First time offenders: Post Bail Second time offenders: Maximum security (the office)

12 Simple Things to Remember…
Have to use the bathroom? Not the first or last 15 minutes of Class Not During Lecture 3 Passes after that ASD Be Respectful! This is not optional…. Civics is Controversial There is enough hate in the world, it is STRICTLY prohibited in this classroom. Forgetting this rule is the quickest way to get sent to the control room/ASD

13 Consequences Consequences: Warning
After School Detention to be served that day or the next Control Room *Depending upon the offense some of the earlier or all steps may be skipped, ex: sent directly to the control room or to the office. **Phone calls home will occur if students get to step 2 or beyond; phone calls may also occur based on teacher discretion

14 Group Work Sometimes you will be able to choose your groups.
Sometimes I select them. Sometimes they will be selected at random. Do not be rude or whine about your group members. You will find yourself doing the difficult assignment by yourself. Make sure EVERYONE is on task... Every group member will be responsible for a certain portion of assignment.

15 Extra Credit I will give Extra Credit throughout semester!
-Involve creativity -Individuality -Full Effort -Added to Quiz or Test Grades Don’t ask at the end of the Semester, extra credit Deadlines are absolute.

Bring to class EVERYDAY! Book Checks for a GRADE!

19 Academic Integrity: Students' work should demonstrate academic integrity, which includes, but is not limited to: Completing all work independently (and/or per teacher's instruction). Not allowing other students to copy one's work. Using resources not permitted for assignments (ex. notes on a test) avoiding using outside sources unless the teacher calls for them If the teacher allows the use of outside sources, the sources should be integrated appropriately (summarized, paraphrased, etc) AND cited appropriately. If students have questions about how to avoid plagiarism or if a case constitutes plagiarism, they should speak with the teacher prior to submission date. Consequences include but are not limited to receiving a zero on plagiarized assignment, after school detention, parent and administration contact.
