We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your work. You do hard work. You help save lives. You help reduce costs. You make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.

A 2013 study in the Journal of Patient Safety shows that between 230,000 and 440,000 patients annually are subject to preventable harm that leads to their death. Without robust QI efforts, that number would be larger. It’s up to us as healthcare quality professionals to make that number smaller.

7 Being a Healthcare Quality Professional
What does a Healthcare Quality Professional mean to you? Healthcare Quality Professionals are the unsung heroes of hospitals, physicians’ offices and insurance companies. They’re the resources for the organization to improve quality and safety of our patients/customers. HQPs apply proven quality-improvement approaches to complex data sets to arrive at solutions that improve outcomes, decrease costs, increase access to care, and drive higher stakeholder satisfaction. Did you know? People who use these techniques for these purposes are HQPs, even if they don’t occupy a formal “quality” role.
