The parable of the Hedgehog and the Fox (Collins, 2001) Figure out where you have the greatest potential to develop (i.e. your strengths) Some recent research findings suggest a 10,000 hour demarcation point

5 A Recipe for Strength Talent (a NATURAL way of thinking, feeling, or behaving) X Investment (time spent practicing, developing your skills, and building your knowledge base) __________________________________ = Strength (the ability to consistently provide near-perfect performance)

6 Strategies for Weaknesses
Establish systems to help manage your weaknesses Partner with someone whose strength is your weakness Be ever cognizant of your blind spots Others?

7 Discussion Questions How do you reconcile using your strengths when constantly asked to use your weaknesses? Does the Hedgehog Principle and playing to your strengths imply individual purpose in life? Why is figuring out your strengths important to leadership?
