3 Quizlet Registration:

4 Once in, it’s very easy to create sets in any language or language combination. Pictures can be added from the library or from your own files. Sets of our textbook are easy to find. Just search for Hola A1 and unit, e.g. Hola A1 04. (Will unfortunately also give results for 01.04, 02.04, etc. )

5 Four learning modes and two games are available on the computer.

6 In each mode, several options can be chosen according to needs, such as:
● Study all or only starred items. ● Audio on or off, or only on for one language. ● Start with term or definition or both at the same time (not recommended).

7 During flipping through flashcards, items can be starred, edited or the audio played repeatedly.
A progress bar is displayed at the left side. Cards can be shuffled or played according to the order.

8 In learn, translations (or definitions) have to be provided.
If students click ‘Don’t know’, the definition is provided and needs to be keyed in again before students can resume studying.

9 Spell is a dictation, where students can hear the word in the target language while the definition is provided in the source language or vice versa.

10 Four different test modes are available in ‘Test’:
● Translation (written) ● Multiple choice ● Match ● True/false

11 In ‘Match’, terms and definitions have to be dragged onto each other to disappear
Time needed up to now and your ‘best time’ are displayed at the left.

12 In ‘Gravity’, definitions have to be typed in before asteroids fall down onto the planet. Time intervals of asteroids coming down decreases over time. Again a leader board is provided after finishing the game.

13 In class progress, the teacher can check which exercises students have done and which modes they have used (not very detailed ).

For every exercise in the textbook, there is a set with all vocabulary items – old and new!

Kahoot is a game based learning platform for schools. It is free and carries no advertising. Registration for teachers:

17 Once in, it’s very easy to create games with a picture and questions
Once in, it’s very easy to create games with a picture and questions. At least one answer must be correct for each question. Pictures can be added to the set as well as to each question.

18 When a game is launched, the students are given a game pin number to enter. Youtube videos can be added, e.g. a music video in the language students are learning in the class (here Spanish).

19 On the white board. Students need to look up to the white board to check which color to chose on their computer, tablet, or device. On students’ devices.

20 After time is up or all students have answered, results are shown on the white board.
On the computer, tablet, or device students see their personal results.

21 A scoreboard is displayed on the whiteboard showing the top three players.

22 On the computer, tablet, or device, students can give feedback ...
… which can be displayed on the white board.

23 Teachers can download students’ results, including reaction times and feedback on an Excel spread sheet or web page to evaluate the students’ learning and highlight where follow up work may be needed (very detailed ).

Kahoots of the textbooks we use are easy to find. To search for exercises of units 1-6 search for the unit as follows: Hola A1 04.* This will show all available Kahoots of unit 4. Units 7-12: Hola A2 07.* This will show all available Kahoots of unit 7. Units 8-12 will be added gradually over the next semester.  Same for Quizlet sets. However, searching for Hola A1 04.* will also show results for sets of other units that contain ‘4’, such as ‘Hola A ’. 
