Click back pack next to the appropriate class period.

3 CLICK ON A STUDENT NAME

4 “MEETING ATTENDANCE” WILL SHOW UP
Here you may check a student’s attendance in all classes, including homeroom status. To submit a “CUT”, you must go to the “Select Screens” menu and click on “Submit Log Entry” You may also view their schedule this way.

5 SUBMIT LOG ENTRY DATE: will appear for the log.
SUBJECT: either place the word “CUT” or “CONDUCT”. LOG ENTRY: You MUST place the date of the incident within the Log Entry Box. You may also put a brief explanation if necessary. Click “Submit” when finished *Without inputting the incident’s date, it make it difficult for admin to know when these things took place.

7 To open the Gradebook click on the Gradebook link in the menu

8 Launch PowerTeacher Gradebook
8 You will be asked to “Launch the Gradebook”, click on the blue button

13 Setting Up Categories To begin selecting assignment categories, click “Tools” » then “Categories”. *You may also click on the categories in the bottom left hand corner.

14 Categories There are already four existing assignment categories.
The names and colors of these categories can be changed. More categories can be added as well by clicking on the plus sign located in the bottom, left-hand corner.

15 CATEGORIES PowerTeacher allows you to calculate final grades by weighted categories, total points, or even weighted terms. By default, the Gradebook will calculate the final grade using Total Points. You will always be able to see the calculated grade to the right of the student’s name in “Scoresheet”, this will eventually be your marking period’s FINAL GRADE.

16 ASSIGNMENTS Click Assignments; then click the plus sign to add assignments. You may also add assignments by clicking on the plus sign that’s located just to the left of the assignment description on the “Scoresheet”.

20 Click the “Grade Setup” to change the weighting.

21 CATEGORY WEIGHTS Make sure you are in the “Calculations” mode.
Then make sure that the correct term is selected (Q2=Quarter/Marking Period 2). The gradebook defaults to Total Points To set up category weights, click the Category weights button. Then click the plus sign labeled add category.

22 CATEGORY WEIGHTS Then choose the categories you wish to include in your weighted set up by clicking the checkbox next to their names. Type in the desired “weight” of each category. The gradebook will calculate the percent. You may choose to drop one of more of the lowest scores. Do not drop low scores until there are several graded assignments already assigned to that category. It is probably best not to drop low scores until the end of the term.

23 COPY AN ASSIGNMENT Click on the assignment you would like to copy.
Click on “Tools” at the top, and select “Copy Assignment” in order to place that assignment into other classes. Then select the classes where you want them copied. You will also be presented with keeping the existing due date or creating a new (custom) due date.

24 MANUALLY OVERRIDE A FINAL GRADE
You may need to modify a student’s final grade in a course based on effort, participation, or other classroom factors. The Score Inspector allows you to change a final grade with the Manual Override tool. 1. Go to Tools, then click on Score Inspector 2. Check Manual Override 3. CHANGE THE PERCENT AND THE GRADE 4. Click Close and then click Save to retain the changes

Notice the “Reporting Term” says “Q1” and Final Grade at the top. Change the Percent AND the Grade, and your comment will show there as well.

26 USING THE SCORE INSPECTOR
The Score Inspector also makes it possible to indicate: If an assignment was received late A student is exempt from completing the assignment An assignment is missing You have collected the assignment without entering a point value To enter a score comment Indicator Description Indicator Meaning Small “C” in blue dot next to score: COMMENT is attached to assignment Small “L” in red dot next to score: Assignment turned in LATE Small “M” in orange dot next to score: Assignment is MISSING

27 ADD COMMENTS TO INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENTS THROUGH SCORE INSPECTOR
Any special notes may be added here.

28 TEACHER COMMENTS Make sure you are in GRADEBOOK, not PowerTeacher
Choose the appropriate Marking Period Choose the student by clicking on their name Go to Tools, click on Score Inspector Click on the Comments tab Choose a comment for the student by double clicking to insert into the box, though you may also add your own (ie: Student CUT, -10pts). Use the arrows to move to the next student Notice again, it says “Final Grade” and “Q1”

29 STUDENT VIEW OF FINAL GRADES
If you wish to show your students a grade they have received, but do not want to show every other student’s grades, simply go to the “Scoresheet” and click on the Student View button

30 REPORTS Attendance Individual Student (must click on student first)
Print attendance sheets for each class Individual Student (must click on student first) Save/Print grades for one student Allows you to pull up missing grades Student Roster Save/Print entire scoresheet for that class, grades included Scoresheet Can also include contact info and student IDs for each class

31 FILTERING OPTIONS While working within the scoresheet, you have several “filtering” options. Using the drop-down menu near the top of the scoresheet, the teacher can show only assignments from “this week,” “next week,” “this month,” “last month,” etc. Make sure you return to the current term when you’re done with the filter.

32 ASSIGNMENT GRADE SUMMARY
Back at the Scoresheet, you can display each assignment score’s mean, median, and mode at the bottom of the gradebook by clicking “Summary.”
