2 POLONEZ funding programme for incoming researchers applying for 12- or 24-month fellowships in host institutions in Poland POLONEZ has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No POLONEZ 3 timeline: Call announcement Call deadline Results Start of the fellowships 15th Sept. 2016 15th Dec. 2016 May 2017 Sept.2017-Jan.2018 Host institutions: free selection by the applicants (academic, non-academic, public, private…)

3 } POLONEZ - eligibility criteria Fellowships:
PhD or 4 years of research experience 24 out of 36 months before the call announcement spent outside of Poland No previous experience as a principal investigator in a research project in Poland No previous application to NCN still being processed Incoming researchers: international researchers returning Polish researchers after a longer period abroad } Fellowships: basic research all areas are eligible

4 POLONEZ - funding The Fellow receives:
remuneration: EUR gross/month (salary + mobility allowance) family allowance: EUR 300 gross/month (for fellows whose families stay in Poland for at least 3 months) = ca Eur/month net

6 POLONEZ Fellow’s activities (other than performing research)
Popularisation of research outcomes, Participation in one study visit per year of 1-10 working days in another institution (financed from 20% overheads received by the Host Institution) Participation in at least 3 training courses developing research and non-research competencies of the fellow organised by the NCN. Optional: other skills development, e.g. teaching.

7 POLONEZ - Proposal Evaluation Criteria
1. EVALUATION OF THE QUALITY OF THE FELLOW 25% – track record 2. QUALITY OF THE PLANNED RESEARCH 25% 3. IMPACT OF THE FELLOWSHIP % - impact on a scientific discipline and applicant’s career 4. DISSEMINATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE FELLOWSHIP 10% 5. SELECTION OF THE PARTNER AND HOST INSTITUTION 20% – research achievements of the research partner/ host institution development opportunities for the applicant BUDGET: not justified =>rejection Grade ‘‘zero” in any of the criteria results in proposal rejection.

Eligibility check Merit-based evaluation: Individual assessment by members of the Expert Team (2) Expert Team meeting (I) Individual assessment by external referees (min. 2) Expert Team meeting (II) Interviews (by members of the Expert Teams) via telecommunications equipment (in English) Concluding meeting Vast majority of evaluators are international researchers
