15 2010 U18 PROPOSAL One option that was raised at the development meetings was the option of a combined U18 team being the sixth team in the A grade competition next year. Basic points would be. Train in Hervey and Bundy separately on a Monday night doing basic skill development on one-on-one work Combined training in Childers on Wednesdays (or rotating between Hervey and Bundy and only travelling once a fortnight) Players not picked train with home club on Thursday night Probably play in Wide Bay colours Could be coached by myself with maybe Geoff Ebert and Shaun Stone as a playing assistant coach for leadership on ground (Not discussed yet) Playing with an aim of at least 5 rookies so as to lessen the players used from clubs (U19 exemption) Allowance of 3 senior players in the team Play at what would be the bye teams home ground Similar to Suncoast Lions set up

16 Positives Players will get one on one feedback in an A grade environment Playing with own age against A grade opposition More capable youth playing A grade that does not happen currently Can invite rookies to ‘our’ team which is better then ‘go join that team’. Can follow development program through summer and through the season Can train the players to prepare for Suncoast Lions and rep opportunities Suncoast Lions will pick out of our team and not affect clubs players Only talking U16-U18 kids which are not promoted in A grade now unless needed for a fill in. Remove the bye Increase the number of players playing A grade Could use the game as promotion as it is only one game to shift. Begarra, Childers, Gin Gin etc Game plan for combined as yearly program rather than six week program.
