Player Numbers (Under 15 & 17) SeasonUnder 15Under 17Total 2008-20097044961200 2009-20106955111206 2010-20116134911104 2011-20125344671001 2012-2013485421906 2013-2014460380840*approx

Issues with Current Format Average number of innings per season per player = 6 – Under 17’s 5.63 (11/12) 6.01 (12/13) – Under 15’s 6.13 (11/12) 5.85 (12/13) 6 months of cricket for 6 innings !!!! Average over’s per match per player in Under 17’s = 3.7 – 3.72 (11/12) 3.67 (12/13) Average over’s per match per player in Under 15’s = 3.5 – 3.61 (11/12) 3.44 (12/13) Therefore, the average month of cricket for Under 15’s & 17’s consists of ……. 1 innings & bowling 7 over’s

Issues with Current Format Lack of opportunities for most players (good players get all the opportunities plus seniors & representative cricket) 55 over’s in morning & 75+ over’s in afternoon is too much for many kids so they are often choosing just one form Unbalanced draw with a mix of one-day & two-day games and divisions of varying numbers Administration overhead is very high with many divisions across each age group and trying to create a balanced draw while avoiding ground clashes Outright wins can create an unfair advantage (especially prior to re- grading) Bowling restrictions in Under 17’s but no batting restrictions

Proposal 1 (30/30 only) o Division’s of 16 with Final 8 (like AFL) o 15 games of 30/30 (play each team once) o 4 finals (Sat/Sun/Sat & GF on Sun) +Potential for 19 innings & 19+ bowling spells +More teams are involved in finals = more games per player +Less administration due to less divisions & balanced draws +More attacking & exciting brand of cricket +Result each week so there is less impact from inclement weather -No opportunity for individual’s to make 100’s or 50’s -Limited time to ‘build an innings’ or bowl longer spells

Proposal 2 (2-day & T20) o Divisions of 8 o Seven 2-day games & Seven T20 games o 2-day games are played as 54 over split innings (similar to u13’s) o No Outrights o 6 points for 2-day & 3 points for T20 o Requires scheduling of mid-week and/or Sunday T20 games +Match result in the event of inclement weather in 2 nd week +Balanced draws +Less down-time for players each week +Increase the number of games & opportunities -Requires extra time & effort from coaches/players

Proposal 3 (Modified Current Format) o Divisions of 10 o Six 2-day games & Three 1-day games o 2-day games are played as 54 over split innings (similar to u13’s) o No Outrights +Match result in the event of inclement weather in 2 nd week +Less down-time for players each week +No unfair advantage of Outrights -No increase in opportunities for players

Proposal 4 (Modified Current Format) o Divisions of 10 o Six 2-day games & Three 1-day games o No Outrights for Grading games o Under 17’s retire at 100, limit of 10 over spells & max of 15 o Under 15’s retire at 50, limit of 8 over spells & max of 12 +Bowlers get more opportunities +No unfair advantage of Outrights -No increase in games for players

Proposal 5 (Modified Current Format + T20) o Divisions of 10 o Six 2-day games & Three 1-day games o No Outrights for Grading games o Under 17’s retire at 100, limit of 10 over spells & max of 15 o Under 15’s retire at 50, limit of 8 over spells & max of 12 o Separate T20 Competition (Midweek/Sunday) +Bowlers get more opportunities +No unfair advantage of Outrights -Requires extra time & effort from coaches/players

Other Items for Discussion o Under 13’s finals – Saturday morning only o No grading for Friday nights - to be based on geographic location only o Under 13’s one-day games only (30/30 format) o Age groups (u12, u14, u16) – why change? o Minimum age restriction for Under 11’s o Geographic division’s V’s Grading only (Travel issue) o Underachiever status – medical certificate only o T20 Blast issues o Grading games to be played as one-day games only o ?
