2 Training and Match Program Trainings:Tuesday 10 th August: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Tuesday 17 th August: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Tuesday 24 th August: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Tuesday 31 st August: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Tuesday 7 th September: 4.30pm – 6.00pm @ Coburg Football Club Match 1:Wednesday 15 th September V Jets @ Highgate Rec Reserve, Craigieburn 2 Games – 6pm and 7.30pm Match 2:Wednesday 22 nd September V Knights @ Highgate Rec Reserve, Craigieburn 2 Games – 10am and 11.30am

3 Training/Match Arrangements Club policy is that all players are available for all training sessions and matches, unless we are advised otherwise. Allowance made for club finals and exams. Non attendance at training/matches, ring Cannons office on 9350 7112 or Meg McArthur direct on 0437 250 331.

4 Squad Levy Cost – $110 Levy, which includes the following: – 7 Week Training/Game Program – Squad Top – Team Photo – Medical Supplies, Insurance, Coaching, Ground hire, etc. – Training/Match jumpers remain property of the club.

6 The Modern AFL Game  Fast paced, possession based game requiring high skill level, excellent decision making, elite endurance, athleticism and speed.  Cannons 2007 Averages Fitness testing  Ht - 186.5  Wt – 79  VJ – 63  20m 3.2 sec  Agility 9.2  Shuttle (Beep Test) 12.5  3km 11.24  AFL Draft Camp 2007 Averages  Ht – 188cm  Wt - 81 Kg  20m – 3.04 sec  VJ – 59 cm  Shuttle (Beep Test) – 13.4  Agility – 8.53  3km – 11.18

What do the following players all have in common? – Joel Selwood, David Wojcinski, Paul Chapman, Matthew Stokes, Shannon Byrnes, James Kelly, Jacob Surjan, Peter Burgoyne, Kane Cornes, David Rodan, Daniel Motlop, Daniel Pearce, Brad Ebert, Travis Boak. All 183cm or under & all played in the 2007 AFL Grand Final 9 out of the 22 Calder Cannons 2007 Premiership players were 183cm or under. 4 out of 7 Calder Cannons 2007 Draftees were 183cm or under. Trend back toward smaller specialist type players – Lindsay Thomas, Cyril Rioli, Leroy Jetta, Jason Porplyzia

8 Selection Criteria - U18 TAC Cup Each TAC Cup club applies the following criteria in the selection of players to be invited into Summer Training squads: – Players past performance - including but not limited to club football, regional football representative teams & school football. – Players potential to perform well in the TAC Cup. – Players potential to play in the AFL. – Ability of the player to perform football skills (both general and specific positional skills) to a high level. – Fitness and athleticism.

9 Selection Criteria - U18 TAC Cup (Cont) – Versatility of the player and their ability to play in a number of positions. – Attendance by the player at training/matches. – Evidence of a positive attitude toward training and commitment to team rules and principles. – Evidence of a desire to play AFL or senior VFL football.

10 What’s next ? U18 Summer Training starts in November 2010 – Approx. 60-70 players made up of players selected from the Simon Madden Squad and 2010 bottom age listed players 2011 Final list will be approx. 45-50 players Differences in development For those unsuccessful in being selected for Summer training - U17 match in 2011 - A successful exercise - Jeremy Laidler

12 Injury All injuries MUST be reported at training to medical staff. Club physio available for assessment at trainings. Recommend that you see you own local physio for treatment. Visits to Alphington Clinic must be paid for, but may come at a discount rate. Club policy is that players should bring/wear mouth guards to all training sessions and matches.

13 General - Diet & Hydration, Administration, Own football Own water bottle compulsory to every session and matches. – To be used to and from training. Recommended to bring a FOLDER to keep all hand outs etc in one place. Players should bring their own football of any standard to assist with individual skills practice during training – With your name on it.
