2 Counselors are your first resource!
Your counselor is the gatekeeper to many resources! If you are not sure where to go, see your counselor. 4 Steps for Seeking Academic Help
Politely ask your teacher before or after class, “Can we schedule a time where I can talk to you about my grade?” Questions to ask during the meeting with your teacher: “What are your suggestions for improving my grade in your class?” “Are there any tests that I can make-up?” “When would be a good time to come in to make up tests/quizzes?” If you are uncomfortable talking to your teacher, see your counselor for support.

5 Cougar Catch-Up After-school help from teachers and staff including homework help, grade questions, and make-up assignments and/or tests. Students are eligible to receive a city bus token if you stay 45 minutes or longer on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.   Access the Schedule on the Counseling Dept. Website.

6 Saint Paul Public Library Homework Rescue
Free tutoring services. One-to-one online homework help every day from 1pm-11pm.   STEP 1: Apply for a Library card at your local library if you do not have one. STEP 2: Go to and log on with your library barcode. 

7 Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute Tutoring Center
MOI is located at 2388 University Ave W and provides free after-school tutoring for ALL ages Mondays through Thursdays from 3:00pm-6:00pm.   For more information visit the  school-homework-help.

8 Social and Emotional Wellness
Are you feeling anxious, stressed, depressed, or overwhelmed? Do you feel like nobody understands you? Do you have low self-esteem? Are you having problems at home? Are you having problems with other students? Are you being picked-on or bullied? Are you having a bad day? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, see your school counselor.

9 Social and Emotional Help @Como
Individual counseling with your school counselor. Group counseling offered through the counseling department. Your school counselor can give you a referral for more intensive/frequent counseling needs. Health Start Clinic on-campus provides one-on-one counseling to Como students at no cost.

10 Health Start Clinic A health clinic on-campus (next to counseling office) that provides services to students free of charge during the school day and after school Services Provided Physical/sports exams, immunizations, lab services, and asthma care. Reproductive care includes testing and treatment for STDs, birth control, and pregnancy testing. Nutrition Counseling and Medical Nutrition Therapy includes services for weight loss, reduction of cardiovascular and diabetes risk, anemia, eating disorders, and food scarcity. Social Work Counseling & Therapy includes assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders and mental health issues such as bereavement, homelessness, violence, substance abuse, relationship problems, pregnancy, sexual abuse, and anxiety. Health Education: Includes individual, small group, classroom and peer education on topics such as smoking cessation, sexual health, stress management, and insurance resources.

Free ACT Prep Database of colleges Career Information Visit the Como Counseling Website for the link to log on. Use your active directory username and password to log on.

14 AVID AVID is an elective class, which prepares and supports students for four-year college or university eligibility Elective class taken during the school day, all year. Students are expected to stick with the program until they graduate. Support in note taking, test preparation, study skills, reading and writing, college planning. Great for students who would like to take rigorous courses and go to college, but need more support to be academically ready. See Mr. Grant, AVID counselor to apply for next year.

15 College Possible Making college admission possible through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. Services include: Academic support through ACT/SAT test preparation College application assistance Financial aid consulting Guidance in the college transition Support toward college degree completion.  Apply for the program during your 10th grade year.
