3. What is it and what does it entail
Aim
Address a bespoke business problem requiring a software based solution 
Indicative Content
This unit involves creating a software solution to a real business problem within their live organisation. In doing so students will draw on communication and decision making skills as well as analytical skills and programming skills.  Students will also use presentation skills along with academic knowledge to fulfill learning outcomes 1- 4 and employ critical reflection skills to address learning outcome 5.

6. Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibility
Apprentice
Will undertake the project
Will be responsible for communication with the Supervisor, Sponsor and Mentor
Will also facilitate communication between the Supervisor and Sponsor/Mentor
Supervisor
Will guide the apprentice in ensuring that the project meets unit specification
Will have primary input in the marking/grading of the assessments
Unit Leader
Will have the overall responsibility for monitoring progress and coordinating assessments.
Will also moderate individual project specifications to ensure consistency in level of difficulty.
Sponsor
Will help the apprentice define the scope of the project
Mentor
Will provide technical support for completing the project.
Mentor could be the same person as the Sponsor, or someone else from the organisation

7. What is it and what does it entail
You will choose a real problem from work and produce a software solution for it.
Your solution must include elements of specification, design and implementation
The implementation may require extensive programming (as in creating a customised software component from scratch), or it might involve deployment and integration of existing software (as in integrating a third-party software into the current workflow).

8. What you can do
You can create new software or a new component for existing software
You can deploy existing software or component into the current workflow
If your team is working on a bigger project, you can use the part of the solution that you are responsible for. However, you must be able to demonstrate your individual input into specification, design and implementation.

9. What you cannot do
You cannot submit a project where your individual contribution is not distinctly identifiable in all three of the following aspects:

Implementation
Your project must have some type of implementation. That is, just identifying the problem and designing a solution are not enough, you must implement a solution as well.
