Gordon Nebraska Family Medicine Rotation

2 Where will you stay? There is a house that the hospital owns where students can stay, however when I was here, there was water damage to the house so arrangements were made for me at the assisted living facility. Amenities: Washer (no dryer) Queen Bed Walk-in closet Microwave Mini Fridge Desk/Dining table Television with Cable Separate bedroom and living area Recliner

3 Hospital Very close to house/nursing home 2 floors
Directly connected to the clinic 3 bay ER Computer Access Food offered from the hospital for all three meals at no cost to the student

4 Who will you follow? Dr. Chris Costa
Dr. Christopher Costa joined Gordon Memorial Health Services in May 2009. He is originally from California and did his undergraduate work at the University of San Diego in California. He later graduated with his MD from Creighton University in Omaha. Dr. Costa went on to do his residency at Kearn Medical Center in California. You will follow him the most, he is very hands on and involves the student as much as he can!

5 Who will you follow? Anpo joined Gordon Memorial Health Services staff in August Though she started as a Nurse's Aide for Gordon Memorial by night and a Chadron State College student by day. She moved to Omaha where she was accepted into Medical School. From there she obtained her medical degree in Family Medicine from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. Very knowledgeable and mostly lets the students observe

6 Who will you follow? Cassie joined Gordon Memorial Health Services staff in September of She calls Gordon her hometown. Cassie completed her undergraduate studies from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Bethel College of Nursing. Then she obtained her Masters and Doctorate Nursing Degrees from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. Gives you a much needed and different perspective on medicine and is generally very hands on with students.

7 Hours/On-Call/Weekends
Generally you will start your days at the outpatient clinic at 8 am and will be done by 5pm. If there are ER visits or extra walk in patients, you might be there later. Weekends are free but…you are on call always but physicians only call you if something is worth your time in their opinions. ( they will not call too often) Physicians here really believe in work/life balance

9 Things to do in Gordon Depends on when your rotation is
If in the summer, the fair/rodeo will occur Chadron state park is about an hour away Rapid City, home of black hills and Mt. Rushmore is 2 hours away The Cowboy West Trail is in Gordon (for running/walking/biking) Golf Course The Coffee nook- coffee shop with wifi-only open until 5 most days
