If you do not have it, show me your agenda Warm-up: DBQ- Examine the following passage from the petition issued by the women of the Edenton Tea Party, and then use it to answer the question below “The Provincial Deputies of North Carolina, having resolved not to drink any more tea, nor wear any more British cloth, many ladies of this province have determined to give memorable proof of their patriotism, and have accordingly entered into the following honorable and spirited association.” – from the Edenton Ladies’ Agreement Why did the women of Edenton, North Carolina, call their actions patriotic? America The Story of Us: Revolution
We will finish the last 10 mins of the video and the video guide. Collect for a grade. We have paused periodically for students to make sure they have the correct information. They were to fill in the missing information. I am collecting this because some students didn’t follow directions.

Reviewing for the Unit Test
Working with your table, you will work together to answer one of the questions that could be on your test tomorrow. Each table will have a different color marker so we can see who answered the question, or added to a response that another table put down. Each table will get this question for about 2 minutes. Work together to answer the questions. After each group has gone through the questions, have the students select the top 2-3 responses and have them read aloud the question and answers. Check with students after this task is done if they missed anything on the study guide. Have their peers answer before teacher does. Make sure answer is correct first.

Tuesday, 11/17 Clear your desk of everything except a pen or pencil, and a sheet of blank paper. Raise your hand if you need a sheet of blank paper. Your test is on paper. Please use the blank sheet to cover your answers. Any talking = a zero. Raise your hand, when you are done so I can collect your test. Place all papers except what’s on the side board into your folder. Then log-on to Achieve to complete articles of your choice. We will do Finding the Right Balance when everyone is done!

Weekly 5: Articles of Confederation
Log-on to Quia.com, and complete the weekly 5 titled above. Log-on to achieve 3000 when you are done. Read “ The First Contest Was No Contest, and Three People Who Changed the World” if done with this week’s articles. As students in Core 1 and 2 are ahead by half a day, have them on Achieve longer in order to get other classes on par again with Cores 3 and 4. Cores 3 and 4 are behind because we got Urcast downloaded on their computers .

The leaders of our country decided to change the Articles. Instead they devised a plan that would revolutionize government as they knew it. They drew upon the governments of Athens Greece and the Roman Empire.

Monday 11/30 Warm-up: Log- on to quia.com and take “ Our Govt before the Constitution.” You were warned about this check-in prior to break beginning, as it was the purpose of watching the videos over break so we wouldn’t lose any key information we would need. You will receive the secret word when all are logged on. You will have 10 mins after logging on to complete the check in. Log-on to Achieve 3000 while you wait for the rest of the class to finish.

One Pager on the Govt before the Constitution
Students will complete a one-pager on the Articles of Confederation, as the students may have forgotten information over break. This will reinforce information that they may have missed on the check-in. We will spend 30 mins on this. If students do not have this completed in 30 mins, it will become homework.

Explain that the 55 delegates to the convention and the people in their states had to resolve many contentious issues, such as writing the Constitution, in order to establish the government that Americans have lived under since 1789.

Ask students to respond to the discussion questions in a think- pair-share or small-group discussion: To compromise means "to come to an agreement by giving in on some points." Why did the representatives at this meeting need to compromise? Does compromising mean that you are not being true to your beliefs? How do you decide when to give in on something that you think is important in order to get something else that you want?

Although the states did ratify the U.S. Constitution by June 1788, a number of them approved it only on the promise that amendments would be added immediately to include a list of citizen rights. Explain the political and historical significance of the Bill of Rights. Explain the importance of specific rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.

Log-in to Discovery Ed: Click on Unit 2 Click Chapter 4 Click 4.3 Click Explore pg 1 Core 1 can trade and grade each other’s homework which was to complete the front, and backside of the notes from yesterday. Have other cores broken into groups to work on one section each and then have them teach about that section of the notes. This will cut down on time needed to read and write to get caught back up with Core 1.

Thursday, 12/10/15 Warm-up: Watch “FBI and CIA: The PATRIOT Act and the Criminal and Intelligence Communities ( under the EXPLORE TAB in techbook) ,” then answer the following: The Patriot Act gave the FBI permission to spy on U.S. citizens believed of being involved in wrongdoing. Do you agree that the FBI should have this power? Does national security justify giving the government more power over its citizens? Why or why not? What rights should people be willing to give up so that the government can protect the nation from threats? Write down homework from back board. After students have finished reading and discussing either video segment, explain that in this concept, students will learn about the government created by the Constitution. They also will learn how the Constitution limits the power of each part of the government, protects the rights of U.S. citizens, and reflects important democratic ideals.

The second group of cases will talk about limiting civil rights, while the third grouping will cover the expansion of civil rights. Finally you will end with cases that cover student rights in school. I made a boo boo, please fix the following before you begin: #4 should say McCulloch v.
