WHAT IS THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST? I CORINTHIANS 15:1-4 Part 2

Last week we started a discussion on “What Is The Gospel?” Gospel—The doctrine of redemption of man through Jesus Christ. Our Scripture reading tells us how this came about. Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Let’s continue this thought today in the form of an acrostic. Two weeks ago we talked about the “Unchanging Gospel.” The gospel should remain unchanged.

God Given II Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. G— God has spoke to us through His Son. Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at various times and in different ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets; but in these last days spoken to us by His Son. Matthew 17:5 "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him."

The Gospel did not come from man. Galatians 1:11-12 But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. II Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Man cannot improve on the Word of God. The Gospel of Christ is all we need.

O—Ordinance Containing God has always expected obedience. Nowhere in the Bible can we find anyone who was pleasing to God without obedience. Salvation comes three-fold: God’s GraceFaithObedience If one of these is missing there can be no salvation. The Gospel was given for our salvation. It tells of God’s Grace. It is given to create faith. Faith should move us to obedience. Peter and the apostles were obedient. There are commands in connection with the Gospel that must be obeyed.

Believe that Jesus is the Christ, I John 3:23 Repent of your sins, Acts 17:30 Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 29:19 "Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. Paul was obedient. Today, we also must be obedient to the Gospel call. Confess Jesus as the Son of God Matthew 10:33-33 Be Baptized to wash away your sins, Acts 22:16

After baptism you must remain faithful to God. Revelation 2:10 Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. How is this done? By reading and studying God’s word and living what you have learned from it. Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. Hebrews 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. The reward goes to the obedient.

S—Soul-Saving In their eagerness to help society, many have forgot that the gospel was designed first and for most to save the soul. Matthew 1:21 "And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.'' Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.'' James 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. There is no greater truth then this.

Sin is transgression of God’s law. The penalty for sin is death.Eternal Death Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death,… A death must occur.Jesus took our place. I Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, Romans 5:6-8 While we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Why, one will hardly die for a righteous man—though perhaps for a good man one will dare even to die. But God shows His love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

Christ shed His blood on the cross. I Peter 2:24 And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. It is through this blood we are cleansed of our sins. Revelation 1:5 To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, The Gospel not only us tells of the sacrifice Christ made. It also tells us how to come in contact with that blood and be cleansed of our sins.

HAVE YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH THE BLOOD OF CHRSIT? HAVE YOU OBEYED THE GOSPEL? THE GOSPEL WAS GIVEN FOR THE SALVATION OF YOUR SOUL!
