1 Removing the VTPC from the VERTEX magnets
Preparations for the removal of VTPC 1 & 2 from the VERTEX magnets. Remove: all instruments & detectors which are in front of the vertex magnet. beam-pipe and supports. all items which are inside de magnet gap and in front of the VTPC 1

2 STORAGE PLACE Storage place. Cleaning-up and/or re-arrange items shown on the picture Foresee a large area to store all the previous mentioned items during the upgrade of the VTPC.

3 Install the 4 «supporting» units inside de vertex magnets.
supports for the square steel tubes (See pictures at slide 4) Adjusting the play between square steel tubes and wheels. Carefully slide the square steel tube inside the VM 1 (need one person inside the VM to watch as to avoid damage) until the tube is above the end support of VM 2. Adjust the supports in height such as to have a «0» play between the SQ tube and wheels.

4 Supporting units 2 of each

5 Install the 4 «supporting” units inside the vertex magnets

6 Sliding the square tubes inside the vertex magnets
Slide both (2) square tubes back to the parking positions and fix the 2 steel «U» profiles to the square tubes. Yet the square tubes are one unit and able to move together inside the vertex magnets. . These 2 profiles must be installed and fixed to the 2 square tubes

7 Sliding the square tubes inside the vertex magnets
fix the 2 steel «U» profiles to the square tubes.

8 Sliding the square tubes inside the vertex magnets
Remove cable ties and cables, make access free. Need 2 person inside the VM to watch the sliding. Carefully slide the square steel tube unit inside the VM.

9 Compressed air drive, sliding mechanism threaded spindle.

10 Vue of Vertex TPC and adjustable suspension mechanics
Detach and remove all cables from the TPC. Make sure that there are no obstructions to lower the TPC.

11 Adjustable suspension mechanics

12 Lower the TPC until they rest on the square tubes
Before lowering the TPC’s it is advisable to measure the position of the TPC in the X, Y, and Z directions. There are 4 suspensions mechanism for each TPC. Undo the blocking nut. By carefully turning the screw counter clockwise, the TPC descents until the bracket is touching the square tube. Remove the suspension mechanism. When both TPC’s are resting on the square tubes one is able to retract the whole assembly as far-out as marked on the drawing of slide 13 watch “bracket” in picture slide 8
