RISIP: objectives, activities and results RAZVAN ENE H.D.T. Italia s.r.l.

ESPRIT E.S.D. The European Initiative for the Spread of Best Pratice in Design PROJECT N. 29448 RISIP

RISIP Radiated Immunity 3-D Simulation for Industrial Processes TECHNICAL PRESENTATION

RISIP Effort in person months: – GEA : 21p/m; H.D.T Italia: 9.5p/m; DIBE: 14p/m Type of the project: Demonstration Project Duration: eighteen months from Nov. 98 to Apr. 00 Project team: GEA s.r.l. prime contractor: end-user H.D.T Italia s.r.l partner: software tool vendor DIBE-University of Genova: research center

RISIP End-User Profile GEA designs electronic devices enclosed in metallic boxes that must be marked with ‘CE’ GEA sells its electronic devices, including software application to manage the customer’s systems GEA market: Industrial process Control Systems (specific harbor environment)

RISIP Objectives Show the viability of a prototype tool, named PRESTO_3D ver. 1.1 to perform: –predictive analysis of radiated immunity on Printed Circuit Boiards in metallic enclosures –experimental validation of the tool Integration with the design methodology inside GEA

RISIP Main results Improvement of the design and analysis of PCB in Industrial Processes Control Application Product control at each development phase Viability of the prototype tool PRESTO_3D test on an actual case

RISIP Project chart

RISIP Task 1: State of the art Objective: –knowledge of market solution & comparison with HDT Description: –prototype tool installation –training courses on SI, EMC, HDT methodology & products –case study demonstrated by HDT technical support Delivered result: –report on advantages\disadvantages

RISIP Task 2: User’s requirements Objective: –list the user’s requirements on EMC to define a new methodology inside the company design flow Description: –EMC and methodology experts define the requirements of the prototype tool Delivered result (M1): –list of requirements

RISIP Task 3: Prototype tool test & improvement Objective: –having a tool overcoming the identified problems identified during the testing phase Description: –several simulations have been run on a test board to: optimize the test board layout test the tool acting on its front end

RISIP Task 3: Prototype tool test & improvement (con’t) –this permits to: remove bugs fit the prototype tool improve the user interface through the user suggestions Delivered results (M2): –list of bugs and features to be improved – report on software tool

RISIP Task 4:Test board realisation and comparison Objective: –Test of the prototype tool on an actual board Description: –The project team tested the software on an actual board and made comparison between measurement and simulation results Delivered result (M3): –Report on comparison between measurement and simulation

RISIP Task 5: Design flow integration Objective: –definition of the prototype tool in the GEA methodology Description: –PRESTO_3D inside GEA methodology –it is linked to the existing CAD/CAE methodology Delivered result (M4): –report on GEA methodology, including PRESTO_3D

RISIP Task 6: Dissemination Objective: –transfer the experience Description & delivered results (M5): –prepare articles to be published on magazines –create a mailing list of potential customers –prepare a brochure of PRESTO_3D –present the results in a seminar –prepare the final report to submit to UE
