Destinations are essential in the future Entry to A Levels Level 5s in English and Maths Level 5 in the subject you want to take at A Level New benchmark for success University – B grades in English and Maths / Level 5 Apprenticeships (Advanced level) – English and Maths – Level 4/5

10 Stretch and challenge – target grades As a school we want positive Progress This means you have to “shoot for the stars” Be highly aspirational Aim for that Level 5 as the benchmark Get a higher grade then predicted

11 So what is different in the new English and Maths

12 Notes from the exam boards - English write clearly and accurately spelling, punctuation and grammar Tiers will be removed Read regularly – Oliver Twist – Guardian Online – Newspapers – read with them – ask them to speak about the book

13 Notes from the exam boards - Maths The content has been organised into broad topic areas Number Algebra Ratio, proportion and rates of change Geometry and measures Probability references Statistics references Students are tested on a range of levels with an increased focus on APPLICATION OF MATHS

18 Signs of a good learner Completing ‘Prep’– accessing ‘Show My Homework’ everyday Organised study time at home – reading Group learning – skype/group revision sessions Fully involved in learning in all lessons Utilising teacher support after school and at lunch times Not working past a certain time – 8 hours sleep minimum

19 PROM passport 95% + attendance Positive conduct points i.e. 10 behaviour points, 2 vivo points = -8 conduct points (cannot attend) Students will get a fortnightly report in form time Available on INSIGHT

20 6 th Form Applications 6 th form applications open in November Not just Haileybury Turnford, but other local 6 th forms Mock results will be used as a basis for 6 th form applications Haileybury Turnford 6 th form open evening: Is the 6 th form the right place for my son/daughter? Will they get in? This will be the time to speak to 6 th form teachers and the Head of Sixth Form

Supporting them being organised and ready to learn Reminding them to utilise their time outside of school Supporting with a structured revision timetable Year 11s should be working every day Checking planners Liaising with form tutors with questions to support learning
