6 RULES/POLICIES Antivirus & Malware: ALL computers on the NCSU network MUST have it (http://www.ncsu.edu/antivirus/)http://www.ncsu.edu/antivirus/ OS security patches: Apply/schedule them regularly Local OS Firewalls: Enable them! NCSU network is open and no excuses to stay vulnerable User Authentication: force users to authenticate/login HD encryption: enable it if necessary Keep centrally-managed computers ON OS Installation: contact csc_help@ncsu.edu for installation/distribution of licensed OS and/or consultation about centrally-managed vs stand-alone solutionscsc_help@ncsu.edu

9 RULES/POLICIES (continuation) PHISHING: Don’t feed the PHISH! –NCSU will never ask you to provide your password. Dual Boot: Not allowed on departmental desktops No Piracy: software, music, videos, movies… All violators will be reported to Dean of Students. All TAs/RAs will have their Advisors notified. The DGP is made aware of all infractions Violations of usage policies will result in appropriate disciplinary action up to dismissal from the program.
