I am proud to say that this is my fourth year teaching at Rosenauer! I have been in the Jackson School District for five years. I have my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and I absolutely LOVE to teach children. I always strive to make learning fun and exciting every day!

*We will have independent reading time for 20 minutes every day, record on our reading logs, and write about our reading in our Reader’s Notebooks. *Each student will have a designated “Book Nook”spot in our classroom that will rotate each day. *During independent reading time, I will have one on one conferences and meet with small groups to assess their reading.

11:55 A.M- 12:25 P.M. If your child is buying lunch, please put the money in a sealed, labeled envelope or wallet.

Weather permitting, we will have outside recess everyday. Coats must be worn during colder weather. Students may leave a sweatshirt or sweater in our closet.

*Monday – Thursday* Literacy: 20 minutes of reading book of choice and record on reading log every night, and Reader’s Responses. *Word study practice (optional, but encouraged). Math: Practice worksheet and review fast facts. Science/Social Studies: Use the Study Guide to prepare for Chapter Tests. * PLEASE SIGN PLANNERS AND READING LOGS NIGHTLY!*

As you may know, there are many changes to the report card this year. We are going to only have three marking periods or trimesters. The biggest change will be how we evaluate your child and share the information with you. No longer will you see a letter next to a specific subject. Now you will see the New Jersey Learning Standard and a number from one to four. 1 = not yet meeting grade level standards 2 = partially meets grade level standards 3 = meets grade level standards 4 = exceeds grade level standards

Each week one student will be our “Top Banana” for the week! When it is your child’s week, a Top Banana bag will be sent home the WEEK BEFORE with instructions to follow. Your child will bring back the bag with all of his/her items the following Monday. Each day for that week, the Top Banana will share with the class and we will learn more about your child!

Please drop off any treats with the receptionist the morning of your child’s birthday. They will be shared during lunch. *Birthday invitations cannot be handed out in class. An email list can be provided of parents who agree to share their information.

We are planning trips to Jenkinson’s Aquarium and the Ocean County Historical Museum. We will send home the information as soon as it is available. There is a sign up sheet for chaperones. Our hard working PTA has generously provided us with the funds for our trips. Please join and get involved. Your help is needed and appreciated!

Please feel free to volunteer for future events on the sign up sheets in the back of the classroom. I will send a note home reminding you that you signed up closer to your sign up date! Volunteer in our Classroom!
