Common App App Watch how to Use

Coaltion App  Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions  94 Colleges  53 Schools will give you the choice to apply via Common app or the Coaltion to give you choice  Of these 53, two are “coalitionexclusive,” which means they will only accept the Coalition Application. Those two are the the Universities of Florida and Washington.  It Has A Locker, Collaboration space for Mentors, and Application

Coalition Locker  ▼ What is the Coalition Locker?  The Locker offers a private space for students to collect and organize materials throughout their high school journey. Whether collecting thoughts on college options or storing classwork or personal writing, students can confidentially save documents that may be useful later in their college search or application.

Collaboration Space  ▼ What is the Collaboration Space?  The Collaboration Space is a meeting place where counselors, teachers, and mentors can support the student’s college search and application through feedback and editing.

Coalition Application  Coalition Application: This is intended to be the final step of the process. If you’ve created a locker and put items in it, you can use those items in your application. You don’t necessarily have to create a locker, or use it if you’ve created it.

Coalition and Naviance  For now, the Coalition App isn’t integrated with Naviance  You can still indicate your schools in “the colleges I’m applying to” tab on Naviance if you are applying using the Coalition Application  Follow the same process for Teachers and Counselors, however, they have to log into the Coalition website to send a “sealed” envelope with your materials. Teachers Trained or Signed up?  This is the first year, so there will be anticipated bugs!

For All Schools  Transcript/Recommendation Process Transcript/Recommendation Process  Make Sure all Schools are in Naviance under “the colleges I’m applying to” tab. Indicate if CA or CO  Fill out the Orange “transcript Request Form” in Students Center East for all colleges. You will indicate if you need a Secondary School Report (all common app schools) and letter and pay 3 dollars for each transcript request.  We do not accept email or automated requests, you must request in person. No appointment needed

1. First determine if your college requires a recommendation letter. NOTE: All Common Applications Schools require a letter of recommendation. Second, make sure you ask in person, if the teacher/counselor/coach is willing to write a letter of recommendation – do not assume. Also indicate what schools need a letter of recommendation to be sent. 2. Fill out recommendation request form (found online or in Student Center East). 3. Allow 2 weeks to complete recommendation; also note if postmark deadlines fall on a holiday to ask earlier. 4. Ask if your teacher will upload your letter through Naviance, if not, make sure to provide them with a stamped and addressed envelope to your school. Steps for Requesting Letters of Recommendation

For Common App  Tell your Recommender which schools to send  They must also complete a Common Application Teacher Report- If not using Common App, give paper copy  Communicate with your recommenders regularly

If Using Coalition  You must request your recommender and transcripts from the coalition site  BUT, they will not send until you come in to fill out a Transcript Request form  All Recommenders (teachers and Counselors) must set up an account on Coalition and upload there, they can’t use Naviance.
