PLANT KINGDOM THERE ARE 4 GROUPS PLANTS WHICH MAKE SPORES Mosses and liverworts Ferns PLANTS WHICH MAKE SEEDS Conifers Flowering plants

Ferns They have strong roots, stems and leaves Leaves have a waxy layer to cut down water loss Xylem vessels inside the plant (transport water and minerals) Spores are made on the underside of the leaves

Flowering plants Flowers containing reproductive organs Pollen is carried from one plant to another by insects or by the wind Flowers make seeds after fertilisation. Seeds germinate into new plant There are monocotyledon and dicotyledon plants

Monocotyledon Flowering plants Elongated leaves that have parallel veins Seeds with one cotyledon eg. Maize, grass

Dicotyledon (eudicotyledon) Flowering plants Broad leaves that have a network of veins Seeds with two cotyledon eg. beans, peas
