2 PLANT KINGDOM THERE ARE 4 GROUPS PLANTS WHICH MAKE SPORES  Mosses and liverworts  Ferns PLANTS WHICH MAKE SEEDS  Conifers  Flowering plants

3 Ferns  They have strong roots, stems and leaves  Leaves have a waxy layer to cut down water loss  Xylem vessels inside the plant (transport water and minerals)  Spores are made on the underside of the leaves

4 Flowering plants  Flowers containing reproductive organs  Pollen is carried from one plant to another by insects or by the wind  Flowers make seeds after fertilisation.  Seeds germinate into new plant  There are monocotyledon and dicotyledon plants

5 Monocotyledon Flowering plants  Elongated leaves that have parallel veins  Seeds with one cotyledon eg. Maize, grass

6 Dicotyledon (eudicotyledon) Flowering plants  Broad leaves that have a network of veins  Seeds with two cotyledon eg. beans, peas
