2. TRICS SAM surveys – A brief history  SAM stands for Standardised Assessment Methodology.  A method of monitoring the progress of Travel Plans using the multi-modal TRICS methodology, through directly commissioned surveys.  First pilot surveys took place in 2005.

3. How SAM surveys are commissioned and undertaken  Direct request for site visit and survey specification.  TRICS supplies a quote for all work involved.  Survey is authorised and data collection company put in contact with the client to obtain supporting information and to agree a survey date.  Survey undertaken.  Data put through input and validation process.  Finalised outputs supplied to the client.

4. SAM surveys in London from 2014 onwards  From 1 st April 2014 TRICS became the standard system of trip generation analysis in London.  There have been many requests for SAM surveys to be undertaken within the capital, further populating the TRICS database

5. What does SAM survey data consist of?  Site details (location, surroundings etc).  Development details (size of site, features etc).  Parking details (both on site and off site).  Travel Plan information (features and implementation).  Multi-modal survey count data.

8. Travel Plan Monitoring Report (TPMR)  A ready-built facility in TRICS for producing monitoring reports for SAM survey sites.  Monitors trip rate and mode split variation over time (for sites that have been surveyed more than once).  Includes helpful commentary and can be supplied as a stand-alone report to those interested in a Travel Plan’s progress.  Accessed directly from individual SAM site records.
