1 Basic Portfolio Requirements: *Due Wednesday, June 1st 1) One three-ring binder 1 inch to ½ inch 2) One digitally created cover image with your name in a large font and an image related to your career choice. 3) Tabs to organize documents (If labeled, should be typed, if not, such as by color, number, or letter, create a Table of Contents) 4) Cover Letter 5) Resume 6) 12 Most Common Interview Questions 7) One typed, error free example of writing 8) Originals or copies of up to three awards 9) Most up to date transcript 10) Letters of recommendation, if you have them, and they may not be from RHS school personnel. *Any documents you create should be on resume paper.

3 Proofing Resumes:  Does the resume have a heading that includes a name that is larger and bold? Is there an appropriate sounding email address?  Is there an objective listed as a complete sentence.  Are all of the sub-headings set off by being bold, all caps, or a different font?  Does all information listed under the sub- headings line up from top to bottom?

4 Proofing Resumes:  Is the resume evenly spaced top to bottom and left to right?  Does the resume appear to be in size 12-14 font?  Look at the entire resume, are there any places where the spacing does not seem to line up evenly?  Is all information listed with the most recent dates first?  Check spelling, punctuation, and grammar

5 Proofing Cover Letters  Directions: CAREFULLY look over and read the cover letter before you.  As you answer the following questions, write directly on the cover letter making notations of any errors you find in the letter.  Is the entire document typed in 12 point, Times New Roman Font?  Is the entire document left justified? (Make sure paragraphs are not indented)  Does the entire document look centered top to bottom? If not, suggest how to fix it.

6 Proofing Cover Letters  Is the opening heading correct? (Did they include their complete address? Did they include a comma after the city, but not after the state?  Are there 4-7 lines between the opening heading and date?  Is the date written correctly?  Do they have the inside address formatted correctly?

7 Proofing Cover Letters Cont.:  Is there an opening salutation followed by a colon?  Is the first sentence/paragraph’s content accurate?  Did he/she correctly list out some of their portfolio contents or explain why he/she is qualified for their dream job?  Is there a third paragraph that includes the author’s proudest achievement?  Is there a closing salutation, four lines of space, the name written/typed out and a signature in between?  Check spelling, punctuation, and grammar

8 Proofing 12 Questions  Is the entire document 12 pt Times New Roman Font?  Are all 12 questions listed?  Is the entire document evenly spaced top to bottom?  Did they answer all 5 questions with an *?  Check spelling, punctuation, and grammar
