27 Do’s & Don’ts GENERAL Smoking/Alcohol  Never go anywhere alone  Always dress for poor weather conditions.  Always meet your group leaders at the set time & place.  Be on time for your activities!

28 Do’s & Don’ts  Look after your clothing and the centre’s equipment, it is very expensive.  Do not go in to any other bedroom other than your own.  No electrical appliances to be used in the bedrooms.  Important that they get a good night’s sleep!

29 Items to Pack Do not pack aerosol spray such as deodorants, these are not to be used in the house under any circumstances as they interfere with the fire alarm system. Roll on deodorant only please!

30 Items to Pack VALUABLE ITEMS These will be the responsibility of the individual, so items such as mobile phones and PS vita’s will be taken at the owners risk. Mobile phones. Though these are a useful development in communications it is becoming increasingly clear that they can pose problems in the information that gets back to you. We have a phone that will be contactable for the whole duration. Phone the centre and they will relay a message to us. Boys who are away from home for the first time may find the first few days strange and contacting home frequently may not help the situation. My advice would be to leave mobile phones at home.

31 Items to Pack- a rough guide with the emphasis being on old and warm! Warm sleeping gear, including woolly hat/beanie! Underwear and socks Toiletries and 2 large towels Shirts, tee-shirts (some old that can get muddy) Trousers x 2/3 (not jeans and 1 set of waterproofs if possible) Jerseys/Jumpers (warm) Two pairs of trainers (one that can get wet/muddy) and/or wet/beach shoes Modest amount of pocket money Jacket - preferably waterproof Bin liners – to keep clothes dry and wet clothes separate Sun hat and Sun tan lotion Swimming costume and an old pair of shorts to go over a wetsuit A set of Casual clothes to travel in Small rucksack for daily use Drinking bottle Torch or head torch for the bivi

32 Spending Money Recommendations: £30 for the week Place this in an envelope clearly labelled and hand to Mr Friel on arrival at the centre on Sunday. There will be certain times when the staff will hand this out to you, this may change on a day to day basis

33 Useful information Bring a packed lunch for the first travel day-there are a couple of stops at services Approximate return time 15 th July is 7.00pm at school Do not pack the kitchen sink as you will be carrying it up the stairs!! Medication
