2 I-Garment The summer in Portugal: 400.000 hectares burnt in the worse wildfires in decades 17 people dead Millions of euro worth of damage Firemen are mostly volunteers and lack both training and equipment The Problem Smart garment with positioning, movement, surrounding environment and vital signal sensors Availability of the service anywhere, anytime, using satcom Friendly interface for PDA/TabletPC/Smart-phones/Laptops Integration with the already existing databases in the Portuguese Civil Protection (Ocurrences service, PREMFIRE, SIGO, RISE) Business plan for the post I-GARMENT The Concept I-Garment

4 I-Garment - Innovation Data relayed to headquarter whenever telecommunication link available – auto switching between satellite and GSM Gathering of data in local system, allowing for fast access of firefighter health data and terrain position using a PDA Smart download and caching of maps as soon as team arrives on scene of fire The general integration of the system and the possibility of an easier maintenance of the hardware vs. uniform Adaptable and adjustable back compartment for the microprocessor / battery placed between the lining and the outside layer so as to reduce discomfort (caused by weight) Elements of innovation

6 Garment – Outer Jacket Protection for upper part of the body, neck and arms Hardware box integration and electronics without movement restriction Compatible with existing equipment I-Garment - Garment
7
7 Garment – Inner Jacket Detachable from outer jacket – allows easy maintenance Routing of cables and sensor integration non intrusive Supports weight of hardware Double cuffs allow HR sensor integration and protection from harmful material Easily adjustable to any body size with Velcro system Allow access to sensors and replacement in case of malfunction I-Garment - Garment
8
8 Garment – Trousers Independent and easily removable in case of emergency Protect abdomen, allowing for reduction of coat length (improves crouching) Adaptable to any height with elastic suspenders Can be stored in full readiness mode, allowing for fast dressing I-Garment - Garment
9
9 Garment – Hardware box integration Protection against impacts and heat, complemented by the outer jacket Easily accessible from within, allowing fast battery replacement Easy sensor connections from the side Antenna placement for optimum data transmission and GPS reception I-Garment - Biometrics
10
10 Garment – adjustment and alarm Adjustable to most body sizes Inner and outer jackets fully integrated act as just one when fitted together Allows for fast dressing in emergency situation Sound alarm readily available at any time Easy to use in emergency situations I-Garment - Emergency
