MICHELLE CAMAIONI Future Teacher

WHO AM I? My name is Michelle Lyn Russell Camaioni. I am 51 years old, happily married for 26 years and the mother 3 amazing children. I received my bachelor’s degree in International Business and Spanish in 1985 and then proceeded to spend the next 15 years in the nuclear power industry. Yes, I it surprised me, too! In 1999, I realized I would not be able to continue climbing the corporate ladder without an engineering degree and because engineering was not my passion, I decided to get my real estate license and sell homes. It took 6 years to transition from nuclear power worker to successful real estate agent. Since 2006, I have been selling 30 - 50 homes per year. I love what I do and yet I still yearn to do more with my Spanish language skills.

HOW I LEARNED I attended Saint Michael’s School from K through 8 th grade, and Saint Mary’s Academy from 9 th through 12 th grade. Both schools allowed me to learn in small classrooms with lots of personal attention. I enjoyed school very much. When I entered high school, I discovered I would need to study two years of a foreign language. There were only two choices: Spanish and French. I chose Spanish and I fell in love.

MY EDUCATION GOAL My goal is to teach Spanish when I retire from selling real estate and a master’s degree will supply the education and the credibility that will help me attain that goal.

QUOTE “There are two educations. One should teach us how to make a living and the other how to live.” John Adams Each experience and each person I meet in my life’s journey teaches me something valuable. My job – or how I make my living – is an important part of who I am, but not all that I am. I recently created a personal calling card for myself and on my card where one would normally cite a job title, I wrote: “Human, child, wife, mother, friend, CEO, linchpin, artist, servant.” I am all of these things and each role teaches me how to live.
