5 The Loaned Executive’s Role Why you are so important You become an extension of the United Way and CFC campaign staff You will be representing United Way and YOUR organization in our community You educate potential donors on community needs and solutions You help plan, organize, and implement employee workplace campaigns in approximately 550 companies/organizations. 5

6 The Loaned Executive’s Role Nature of the work Member of a 35-person group of United Way and Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) Loaned Executives (LE) Full-time assignment reporting to United Way and CFC campaign staff Assist Campaign Staff with different types of campaigns –Traditional United Way campaigns – donors invest in United Way’s agencies, programs, & initiatives –Open campaigns – donors have option to select United Way agencies/programs plus other 501(c)(3) charities –Public Sector Campaigns – “open” campaigns conducted in public sector - CFC, City, County, Schools & State 6

7 The Loaned Executive’s Responsibilities Specific Tasks Works with United Way staff and account representatives to analyze, plan and implement campaigns for a portfolio of company accounts –Employee Campaign Managers (ECM) for UW –Project Officers (PO) for CFC Ensures all company campaign supplies are delivered on time Serves as the United Way representative at campaign kickoff events, informational meetings, and special events 7

8 The Loaned Executive’s Responsibilities Specific Tasks Assists ECM in scheduling speakers, tours, and meetings Interacts and develop relationships with agency representatives Delivers awareness and direct “ask” presentations 8

9 The Loaned Executive’s Responsibilities Specific Tasks Monitors and reports campaign progress Assists ECM in completing and submitting final results on time Completes a final evaluation report on each campaign account 9

11 Combined Federal Campaign LE’s Unique Considerations Established in 1961 by President Kennedy - Single workplace campaign for military/federal employees Not a UW campaign, but managed by UW 2014 campaign raised $3.37M (9th largest on the planet!) Over 20,000 charities (local, national, international) Campaign branding/message–broader than United Way Specific rules for federal campaign - Only solicit federal employees - No coercion - Impartiality to specific charities Restrictive activities 11
