5 Goal  In Proper Paragraph Form, write about one set of dramatic foils (ex. Benvolio and Romeo). Explain each character’s traits and how they are different. Use embedded quotations for your CDs (Concrete Details). Your paragraph must be 8 sentences. (1 TS, 1 CD, 2 CM, 1CD, 2 CM, 1 CS)

6 Embedded Quote  An embedded quote flows naturally into your own writing.  When reading a well-embedded quote, it should sound like a part of your own sentence.  A dropped in quote does not flow with the rest of the sentence.

7 Act 1 Paragraph Practicing Word Choice & Embedding Quotes In Proper Paragraph Form, write about one set of dramatic foils (ex. Benvolio and Romeo). Explain each character’s traits and how they are different. Use quotations for you CDs (Concrete Details). Your paragraph must be 8 sentence. (1 TS, 1 CD, 2 CM, 1CD, 2 CM, 1 CS) For imbedding your CDs:  You must lead into the quotes with something that will help the reader understand the context.  Your sentence must flow easily and not be broken up.

Embedded: Romeo exhibits his depression when he avoids contact with other people and “shuts up the windows, locks fair daylight out, / And makes for himself an artificial night” (1.1.130-31). Which one sounds better? Why?

9 Act 1 Practicing Word Choice & Embedding Quotes Not embedded with DEAD words: Romeo says, “Give me the torch, I am not for this ambling. / Being but heavy, I will bear the light” (1.4.11-12). Embedded: Romeo shows his depression by telling Benvolio and Mercutio that he does not want to go to the ball and is “not for this ambling” (1.4.11). Which one sounds better? Why?
