Telling: I grew tired after dinner. Showing: As I leaned back and rested my head against the top of the chair, my eyelids began to feel heavy, and the edges of the empty plate in front of me blurred with the white tablecloth.

3 Ways to add description
Describing your actions rather than just saying how you feel. Using active verbs. Describing a specific setting. Using similes, metaphors, and personification to create an image.

4 Ways to add description
Appealing to some of the five senses to paint a picture of what is happening (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch) Adding adjectives and adverbs

-What more specific nouns can be used instead of she? Nouns / Adjective

9 The room was a mess! What does a messy room look like? What do you visualize? What are the sights, sounds, smells, feelings of a messy room? Assignment: Write one paragraph showing paragraph (at least eight sentences) describing a messy room.
