8 Introduction Open your presentation with a clear introduction Use a “hook” to get attention ◦Use an interesting statistic about advertising ◦Use the tag line or a catchy phrase from the advertisement ◦Define the word “advertisement” or “consumer” ◦Use a rhetorical question E.g. Who doesn’t love to buy new toys? ◦Use humor or sarcasm E.g. True or False? In America, he who dies with the most toys wins. State the main idea (what are you writing about?) State the name of the company or product in the advertisement that you are analyzing.

9 Analysis Conclusion Write a formal conclusion for the presentation Use a full-circle ending—end with the same hook you used in the opening. Based on your analysis, is the ad successful? Does it clearly describe the product, or is the ad misleading? Explain! Would you buy the product or recommend the product? Why or why not?

10 Ad Analysis “By the age of 65, the average person will have seen two million commercials.” Obviously, advertising has a great influence on our lives particularly around the holidays.
