Indirect Object Pronouns

What word in a sentence is the indirect object?  An indirect object tells to/for whom or to/for what the action of the verb is done. Example: I give you the gift. Ask yourself: I give the gift to whom? Answer: to you = indirect object Example: He cooks the child a pie. Ask yourself: He cooks a pie for whom? Answer: the child = indirect object

What are the indirect object pronouns in Spanish? me (to/for me) nos (to/for us) te (to/for you informal)~~~~~~~~~~ *le (to/for him/her/Ud) *les (to/for them/Uds) * le and les need to be clarified by adding “a + person” in the sentence, if the person has not been talked about before.

Where does an indirect object pronoun go in a sentence with 1 verb?  An indirect object pronoun comes BEFORE the CONJUGATED verb. Ex. Juan compra un libro para mi. 1) Juan buys a book for who? = mi 2) mi = me 3) Juan me compra un libro.

Where does an indirect object pronoun go in a sentence with 2 verbs?  When an infinitive follows the conjugated verb, the indirect object pronoun can either be placed before the conjugated verb or be after and attached to the infinitive. Ex. El chico quiere escribir una carta a mi. El chico me quiere escribir una carta. OR El chico quiere escribirme una carta. Ex. La chica necesita comprar la pizza para el chico. La chica le necesita comprar la pizza. OR La chica necesita comprarle la pizza.

Indirect Object Pronouns and Direct Object Pronouns Together  The indirect object pronoun comes first. Ex. He reads me it. Ex. Me lo lee.  If sentence has two verbs. Ex. He wants to read me it. Ex. Quiere leérmelo. OR Me lo quiere leer.

Le/Les = Se  If the direct object pronoun is “lo/la/los/las” and the indirect object pronoun is “le/les” turns to “se” Ex. He reads her it. Le lo lee. = Se lo lee. Ex. He wants to read her it. Quiere leérselo. Se lo quiere leer.
