2 What Is a Refugee? a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. a person who is outside his or her country of nationality and can't return due to a well-founded fear of persecution because of his or her race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.

3 Why is this a social justice issue? At the end of 2013, there were 16.7 million refugees worldwide, with the highest number in Pakistan (1.6 million). 50% of refugees are under the age of 18.
