Solving Literal Equations 1.Create a PowerPoint on solving literal equations which includes: 1.The definition of a literal equation. 2.2 examples of the literal equation. 3.Solve half of the problems included on the handout 2.Save you PowerPoint file as: fistname.lastname.hour.ppt and upload it into Blackboard as an assignment Use PowerPoint to develop algebraic reasoning skills needed to solve literal equations. Learning Objective(s): Rewrite and use literal equations and formulas. S SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement
3
Solving Literal Equations 1.Take the Literal Equations Quiz at the following link 1.www.problem-attic.com/test/muoyb7vhwww.problem-attic.com/test/muoyb7vh 2.Do not use your name – use your nickname/student identifier 2.After all students have submitted their results, we will look at the results. 3.Choose one problem you got wrong. Re-work the problem with a partner to get the correct answer. Then explain why you got the problem wrong. Take quiz on literal equations using Problem-attic. Learning Objective(s): Rewrite and use literal equations and formulas. A Augmentation Technology acts a direct substitute, with functional improvement

Solving Literal Equations 1.Watch the following videos from Khan Academy. 1.https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/alg-1-old-content/manipulating- formulas/v/rearrange-formulas-to-isolate-specific-variableshttps://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/alg-1-old-content/manipulating- formulas/v/rearrange-formulas-to-isolate-specific-variables 2.https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/alg-1-old-content/manipulating- formulas/v/solving-for-a-variable-2https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/alg-1-old-content/manipulating- formulas/v/solving-for-a-variable-2 2.Choose one problem from each section. Using the snipping tool, copy and paste the problems to Microsoft Word. Work the problems. 3.Submit your document to Blackboard by saving as firstname.lastnamehour.doc 4.Reply to a classmates' post with a statement about their answer. 5.If the answer is incorrect, give them the correction and explain how you arrived at it. If it is correct, let them know. Watch a video, solve two literal equations. Learning Objective(s): Rewrite and use literal equations and formulas. M Modification Technology allows for significant task redesign
5
Solving Literal Equations 1.Create a word problem that could be used to represent a literal equation or formula. 2.On the iPads, use the Tellagami app to create an animation of your word problem and its solution. 3.Save the completed animation in the camera roll. 4.Log into Blackboard and create a thread under activity 4 with your name as the subject. 5.Attach your video to the thread. 6.View at least two other animations and comment of a minimum of two. 7.Use the star rating system and rate one video. Create a word problem using the Tellagami app Learning Objective(s): Rewrite and use literal equations and formulas. R Redefinition Technology allows for the creation Of new tasks, previously inconceivable
