8. Michelangelo – Italian Renaissance artist famous for sculpture, painting, and architecture. One of his paintings is the fresco painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. His sculptures include the “Pieta”, the “David”, and the “Moses”. He also designed the dome for St. Peter’s in Rome, Italy. “Pieta” 1499-1500

10. Rodin (1840-1917)- late 19 th century sculptor created expressive works cast in bronze, often leaving his fingerprints in the work (“The Burghers of Calais”, “The Thinker”)?

11. Henry Moore (1898-1986) - a twentieth century British sculptor whose large abstract sculptures are based on the human form and forms from nature (i.e. Reclining Figure, Sheep Piece)

12. George Segal (1924-2000)- a contemporary American artist who created scenes with plaster figures of people in settings with props going about their everyday routines.

13. Giacometti (1901-1966) - Swiss sculptor who created artworks of elongated human figures which were thought to represent loneliness and alienation from humanity. Man Pointing, Bronze, 70 ½” high, The Museum of Modern Art, NYC

14. Duane Hanson (1925-1996)- modern sculptor created super realistic sculptures of everyday people in settings with real props.

15. Human proportions - On a standing human figure the tips of the fingers should fall halfway between the knee and the top of the leg. The legs of a human figure are approximately half the length of the entire figure.
