National Research Institute for Labour Protection 5 Condition for placing on the market Conformity with basic safety and health requirements –Observance of harmonized standards – presumption of conformity –250 SR EN of 278 EN published by European Comission Conformity marking CE or CS Manufacturer’s information CS

National Research Institute for Labour Protection 6 All PPE must: a) satisfy the relevant provisions on design and manufacture; b) be appropriate for the risks involved, without itself leading to any increased risk; c) correspond to existing conditions at the workplace; d) take account of ergonomic requirements and the worker's state of health; e) fit the wearer correctly after any necessary adjustment.

National Research Institute for Labour Protection 7 Assessment of PPEs a) an analysis and assessment of risks b) the definition of the characteristics c) comparison of the characteristics of the PPE available with the characteristics referred to in (b)

National Research Institute for Labour Protection 8 Function of different Non-observance of these rules leads to TYPES OF PPEs STANDARDS RISKS MARKING RISKS FAILURE IN PERSONAL PROTECTION

National Research Institute for Labour Protection 9 HEAD PROTECTION – SAFETY HELMETS Conformity: marking CE or CS instructions SR EN 397 “440V c.a.” “-20 0 C” Failure : Other types - SR EN 812 Absence of some characteristics

National Research Institute for Labour Protection 10 SHOES FOR OCCUPATIONAL USE  Conformity: - Marking CE sau CS -Instructions -SR EN 345 or SR EN 345 symbol P  Failure : - SR EN 347 - Absence of some characteristics

National Research Institute for Labour Protection 11 PROTECTIVE CLOTHING  Types: a) Resistance to liquid penetration b) Resistance to particles (dust) penetration c) High visibility d) Protection against cold  Failure : - Products intended for other uses - Home cleaning

National Research Institute for Labour Protection 12 PPE AGAINST FALLS FROM A HEIGHT Functions of PPE against fall from a height: Preventing falls from a height Restraining movements Arresting falls from a height Equipments for rescue operations in emergency cases or for the salvation of a person when an occupational injury occurrs
