32. CODLEA  Codlea, located in south-eastern Transylvania, in the Brasov Depression, is an urban settlement documentary attested since 1211, from the passing of the Teutonic Knights in Bârsa County. Its geographical positioning in the Carpathians, near the Persani Mountains and at the foothills of Măgura Codlea, makes the settlement a great tourist attraction with beautiful landscape and biodiversity of the area. Considered a strategic point of defense, here the Teutons rose the Black Citadel (Schwarzburg), on the road which connects Bârsa County with Sibiu province ( known as the Saxon Road). The city was conceived as a village with a single street, the center of which was represented by a market center with a church. In a document dated 1377, the village is first mentioned as “Cidinis ”.
