Benefits Benefits to the Apprentice The apprentices will have a role at Airbus within the core workforce, they will have a vocational qualification, a Foundation Degree and a BEng with Hons. They will have demonstrated vocational competencies, Airbus behaviours, experience within the business and will have also completed the requirements of the UK Spec for IEng with the Professional Institutions. The apprentices will be part of the core workforce and will have an extremely competitive salary during the apprenticeship. 1st year Higher Apprentice £12,723, 2nd year Higher Apprentice £14,631, 3rd year Higher apprentice £17,556. Pay review pending Benefits to Airbus Airbus will have a very clear progression route that enables apprentices to start wherever is appropriate to their academic / vocational level, with entry and exit points from level 2 to level 6 that allows apprentices to transfer to the HEA from the craft programme or to join from sixth form with A levels. The Engineering departments will have highly educated people joining their business who will not only have the ability to carry out a role within the engineering function but will also have a BEng with Hons, plus Incorporated Engineer status with one of the Professional Institutions such as the IMechE. There will no longer be a requirement for the engineering departments to support the ex-apprentices through a two year day release BEng degree, which will ensure their engineers are being fully utilised within their business. This will reduce the cost and increase productivity to the business. Airbus will be seen by young people and Government to be offering a real alternative to University, whilst also meeting the engineering requirements of having highly educated and vocationally competent engineers who are able to carry out a meaningful role within the engineering functions.
