1 La carta para solicitar empleo(50pts) y EL anuncio clasificado (25 pts) Objective : To write a letter in the target language using your key vocabulary and grammar concepts learned in Chp 5. You will be writing a letter describing why you are the best candidate for a job opening. The letter has to reflect the two classified ads you will be creating from your chosen career. You will then be presenting the letter by reading it in class. STANDARD 3 & 8: Students present information, findings, and supporting evidence such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning. ( CCSS-ELA :Speaking and Listening 4) Students write informative and explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas and information clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content of the language and one’s own. ( CCSS-ELA :Writing 2) Requirements: Must be typed! Will not accept hand written copies! Must present letter to receive any credit! Must dress up as the profession you are applying for! When you write your letter you should be thinking about: -> The person you are writing to. -> The reason why you are the best candidate. -> Why you are the right person they should hire to resolve their problem? -> How you are going to invite the employer to take action and call you or hire you?

2 Outline for the letter: (Part 1) LA CARTA/SALUDOS Format of Letter Heading-(Type on the left hand side)Write your full name and address Date of letter-(Type on the right hand side) Make sure you do not capitalize the month. 2 nd Heading--(Type on the left hand side) Full name of the person/title/and address of company SALUDOS Choose the correct greeting (Type on the left hand side) First and Last Name Avenida Lurline, Número 10027 91311- Chatsworth, CA 15 de marzo de 2016 Name of Person you are writing to Title of Person Address of Company or Place Estimado Sr.________ /Estimada Srta._____

3 Outline for the letter: (Part 2) INTRODUCIóN /EXPERIENCIA (1 ST PARAGRAPH) – The reason you are writing the letter Where did you see the Classified Ad? Restate who they are looking for …this should resemble your AD info. Make sure the 2 nd to the last sentence clearly gives info about your previous work/volunteer experience which makes you a good candidate (Use present perfect tense). Don’t forget to state for how long. Finally end this 1 st paragraph with why you have volunteered or have worked etc. I have read,seen,heard en ______(place) que (busca, necesita, solicita) una persona que (no)haya tenido experiencia con _______ (things/person)para trabajar de _________ (profession) en _______ (place). 4 Outline for the letter: (Part 3) DESARROLLO (indent) (2ND PARAGRAPH) – Cualidades List at least 3 adjectives which express your potential for this job position. Two of these adjectives should reflect the classified ad. State your interests Stress what you know and how it would benefit this job. Soy un joven/una joven______,________,y _____(adjectives-make sure gender agrees) Además, me interesaría trabajar como _________________ y sé ________________________.

5 Outline for the letter: (Part 4) CONCLUSI ó N (indent) – Información State when you are going to call them. Ask for an interview (phone conference, video chat etc) How are they going to reach you? Give a phone number, address, or email. Voy a llamarlo/ llamarla _________ ( when- M,T, during the week, next week) para saber si puedo entrevistarme con usted. Si desea verme antes, por favor llámame/escríbeme al (telephone or email)

8 El anuncio clasificado AD REQUIREMENTS: * Must create 2 ads of the same profession – One part-time ad – One full-time ad * Ad must – be unique – must use vocabulary from textbook. – the full-time job should offer better options. – Be typed – Include 1 sentence in the subjunctive tense. (Ex: Se busca un joven que + subjunctive verb.) – Job requirements.(Requisitos) – 1 sentence in the present perfect tense (Ex: Ha trabjado ….) – 1 command – Contact information – At least One clip art or picture of profession * Make sure your ad is creative, neat, and doesn’t have too much information. If you are going for the A make sure your Ad stands out and resembles an Ad. * IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH YOUR AD LOOK @ PG. 208 & 209 THERE ARE EXAMPLES OF DIFFERENT ADS.
