Previously known as GOF… (Global Opportunities Fund) The Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s centrally managed programme funds Support delivery of the department’s strategic objectives Strategic Programme Fund (SPF) Low Carbon High Growth (LCHG) to support Departmental Strategic Objective 7 “To promote a low carbon, high growth global economy”

4 SPF Projects for 2009/2010 The Embassy is running 4 projects which were approved in March 2009. Two more projects submitted for the second round - aim to start in July if approved.

5 Project 1 Title: Strengthening Evidence for Promoting Cap and Trade Policy in Korea Purpose: To reduce business opposition to a mandatory cap and trade scheme in Korea Who: Samsung Economic Research Institute Budget: £227,647 Duration: April 2009 - January 2010

6 Project 2 Title: Creating a Business Forum for Climate Change in Korea Purpose: Korean businesses launch a Forum for Climate Change to lobby the government to take ambitious policy action through strong public messages on the economic benefits of tackling climate change. Who: Climate Change Centre of Korea Green Foundation Budget: £163,007 Duration: April 2009 - March 2011

7 Project 3 Title: Strengthening carbon management capacity of Korean companies carbon-conscious investment via robust Carbon Disclosure Project Purpose: Key Korean businesses participate actively in the Korean Carbon Disclosure Project to improve emissions data from Korean companies. Who: CDP Korea Committee Budget: £77,126 (FCO£57,126) Duration: April 2009 - November 2009

8 Project 4 Title: Developing industry-wide carbon footprint labelling scheme and government incentive programme for low carbon products. Purpose: Small and medium businesses in South Korea adopt a voluntary carbon labelling programme, focussing in particular on the food and consumables industries. Who: Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute/ Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business Budget: £410,398 (FCO £ 205,199) Duration: April 2009 - March 2012
