Tell the story of the experience with a clear beginning, middle, and end, using descriptive words to draw your reader into the experience. Close with a lesson that can be learned from the experience. Structure Structure: Introduction Introduction: Hook the reader’s interest with an opening sentence, then state the historical event that you or your family member lived through and briefly its impact on you, finally state that you will describe this experience as well as the lesson that can be learned from it. Body Body: Topic sentence – state the historical event that you or someone else lived through. Describe the event in detail with a clear beginning, middle, and end. Closer – state that this experience has taught you a valuable lesson. Conclusion Conclusion: restate that this was the story of your personal experiences during a historical event. Remind us about the lesson. Remind us about your opening hook.

(Indirect) Scrooge would not pay his employee a living wage.
