2 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Students are required to earn 26 credits to graduate: Students are required to earn 26 credits to graduate: 4.0 English Credits – English 9, 10, 11, 12 4.0 English Credits – English 9, 10, 11, 12 4.0 Social Studies Credits – 4.0 Social Studies Credits – NM History/Geography World History US History Economics/Government 4.0 Science Credits – 4.0 Science Credits – Must include 2 of the following: Chemistry or Chemistry in the Community, Biology or Physics Two additional science electives 4.0 Math Credits – including Algebra 1 (or its equivalent or higher), and Algebra II 4.0 Math Credits – including Algebra 1 (or its equivalent or higher), and Algebra II 1.0 World Language or Career Cluster or Workplace Readiness Credit *2 years of same world language required for most 4-year colleges/universities 1.0 Physical Education Credit 0.5 Health 0.5 Fine Arts Credit 0.5 Technology Credit 6.5 Elective Credits Students are also required to have ONE of the following: 1.0 Advanced Placement (AP) credit, or 1.0 Dual Enrollment (college level) credit, or 1.0 Distance Learning (on-line) credit

4 TESTING GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS PARCC scores can affect graduation. The state requires that students pass a "high school competency exam" in order to earn a diploma. The NM Public Education Department has designated PARCC as the competency exam for reading, writing, and mathematics, replacing the SBA in those subject areas. PARCC scores can affect graduation. A passing score on the English 11 PARCC test and on either the Geometry or Algebra II PARCC tests meet the graduation testing requirement. 5 WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR STUDENT FAILS THE PARCC AND/OR THE SBA? This is where Alternative Demonstrations of Competency (ADC) can be considered. Students may attempt the PARCC Reading and Math 3 times and the SBA Science exam 2 times before using the ADC pathways. Students who complete credit requirements but do not meet competency requirements will only obtain a certificate of completion rather a than high school diploma. Please make note of the following testing dates. Please try not to schedule appointments during testing times. EOC/Final Exam Dates May 18 th and May 19 th WHAT HAPPENS IF YOUR STUDENT FAILS TO OBTAIN THE ADC AREA?
