3 Self-Esteem Problems **We all experience problems with self-esteem!  Someone whose acceptance is important constantly puts you down  Listening to negative inner voice  Unrealistic expectations  Everyone’s ideal image is different  Don’t see yourself as having the qualities you admire

4 Steps to Improving Self-Esteem  Stop negative thoughts – focus on positive  Aim for accomplishment, not perfection  View mistakes as learning opportunities  Try new things  Recognize what you can change and what you can’t  Set goals  Take pride in your opinions and ideas  Make a contribution  Exercise!  Have fun!

5 Self-Esteem Impact  People with high self-esteem:  Do better in school  Easier to make friends  Better relationships with peers and adults  Feel happier  Easier to deal with mistakes  More likely to succeed
