1. Occupations of Graduates Groen Sebenza Programme

2. The Groen Sebenza (Jobs Fund) programme was launched in May 2013 by the Minister of Environmental Affairs, Ms Edna Molewa. The job creation and skills development programme placed and ‘incubated’ 800 previously unemployed youth (pioneers) mainly from rural areas with 44 host organisations within the biodiversity sector nationally, where they received on-the job training as well as invaluable workplace experience. Of the 800 pioneers, 555 are graduates and 245 non-graduates. Pioneers have been participating in a national training programme which focussed on generic and life skills training opportunities which include: Computer literacy, Project Management, Career guidance, Communications and Networking and Leadership training. Pioneers have also received occupation specific skills training at a host institution level relevant to their appointed occupations for more than two years. 3. Nature Conservation (202 graduates) SKILLS: understanding biodiversity patterns, trends and indicators; knowledge of environmental policy and legislation; project management, planning; strong communication skills; Stewardship & Extension officer; Research assistant; Environmental consultant; Biodiversity Monitoring specialist; Atmospheric modeller; EIA coordinator

5. Environmental Management (44) SKILLS: knowledge of environmental policy and legislation, excellent technical environmental knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, good analytical skills, research and report writing skills Environmental Manager; Biodiversity Planner Integrated Catchment manager; Reserve Manager Waste management specialist; Environmental Technician, Environmental Impact Assessment Co-ordinator, Infrastructure Manager

7.
