Course Description Example LAN320 & 321: AMERICAN LITERATURE AND WRITING OPEN TO: 11, 12 Full Year Course PREREQUISITE: Teacher’s signature CONTENT: This course invites students to examine the issue of “Who am I as an American?”. Students will read and discuss a variety of themes in American literature and relate the past classics to contemporary works. This course also provides students with the opportunity to improve their writing, vocabulary, and grammar skills. LAN330 & LAN331: ENGLISH LANGUAGE & COMPOSITION-AP OPEN TO: 11, 12 Full Year Course (must take full year) PREREQUISITE: Grade A or B grade in previous English class Teacher/Counselor signature This course will provide students, especially those who are university bound or interested in AP English, with an intensive study of both fiction and nonfiction, including contemporary works and training in documented research writing. Students will examine how authors used style, such as word choice and sentence structure, to create arguments.
