9. DEPARTMENTAL PHILOSOPHY: WE BELIEVE THAT ALL STUDENTS CAN SUCCEED. OUR ROLE IS HELP THEM REACH THEIR HIGHEST POTENTIAL ELA Statistics of Success 97% of KP students achieved Proficient or higher on the 2015 MCAS Test 63% achieved "Advanced" compared to the state's average of 49% 133 of 355 students (Over 1/3 of the Class of 2016) took AP English during their junior year. The average score for these students was a 3.6 out of 5 on the exam. Over half of those students (73) received a score of 4 or 5 out of 5 on the exam. Many colleges accept AP scores of 3 or above for college credit or allow students to pass out of their writing requirement.

12. This introductory course offers an opportunity for students to design and create media productions. Through analysis; planning; defining central ideas; composing text, images, and sound; and digital editing and revision, students will understand that media productions—like literary works—are the result of careful consideration of audience, message, and form. The overall experience will provide students with valuable skills in creative thinking, composition, oral communication, media literacy, and collaboration. The student’s grade will be based on multiple production projects, effort, and class participation.

21. World Languages Graduation requirement: all students must successfully complete at least two years of a world language. Three languages offered: Latin, Spanish, and French Levels offered: Honors & College Prep ECP French: 2 year program; alternative to French 1 & 2, Latin 1 & 2, or Spanish 1 & 2; It is a very basic French course which focuses on speaking and listening; less emphasis on reading and writing.

60. KPHS Peer Tutoring Center The Peer Tutoring Center is available throughout the school day and afterschool for students to access free tutoring support from highly successful KPHS upperclassmen.
