7 IRDP Courses and Workshops ― March 2015 IRDP Courses InspectionsDescription Duration Availability Construction Inspection This is an introductory course to provide developing regulatory agencies with basic knowledge about regulatory inspections with an emphasis on construction inspection. 3 daysNow Construction and Vendor Inspection Workshop This workshop is similar to the Construction Inspection course and is expanded to cover the area of vendor inspections. Each training session is followed by a participant breakout session that reinforces material presented during the workshop. 5 daysNow Vendor Inspection Workshop This workshop provides developing regulatory agencies with basic knowledge about regulatory vendor inspections that are performed both for manufacturing and design. 4 daysNow

8 IRDP Courses and Workshops ― March 2015 Regulatory ReviewsDescription DurationAvailability Management of a Regulatory Review This course will include managing reviews for such topics as site application and preliminary safety analysis report reviews required for a construction permit and will include such topics as Project Management, Document Management, Human Resource Development, Staffing, Training and Qualification, Schedules and Resource Estimates, Review Process, and PSER with open items. 0.5 to 1 days April 2015 Licensing Process Workshop This workshop will focus on initial licensing. It will address the laws, regulations and guidance that typically govern licensing decisions (including IAEA guidance on these subjects). It will describe the roles and responsibilities of regulatory staff in the review of applications. It will give an overview of the technical topics that need to be addressed, using NUREG 0800 as a road map. It will discuss human resource needs, including the role of TSOs. It will describe the behavior of the regulator including interactions with the applicant and the public. It will describe process steps such as acceptance review, public noticing, full technical review, draft SER/ RAI, final SER and license issuance. It will describe the importance of good licensing documents for the operating decisions throughout plant life. 4.5 daysApril 2015 IRDP Courses (cont.)

9 IRDP Courses and Workshops ― March 2015 Regulatory ReviewsDescription DurationAvailability Reactor Site Application Review Workshop To familiarize foreign regulatory technical staff with requirements for reactor siting and the technical guidance for review of a site application to determine whether site characteristics are acceptable for placement of a nuclear reactor. 4.5 daysNow Reactor Construction Permit Application Review Workshop To familiarize regulatory staff and management with the wide spectrum of technical and regulatory elements which are incorporated in a construction permit application, and to provide guidance that will assist the staff in performing an effective and efficient review of the application. 5 daysNow Power Uprate Review To provide an overview of all elements of the NRC’s Review Standard RS-001. The workshop uses examples from one NRC EPU review (Turkey Point, June 2012) to illustrate how the NRC performed an actual review using RS-001. The workshop provides resources and background information for future use by a regulatory staff. The workshop describes US operating experience for plants approved for an extended power uprate. 3.5 daysNow Environmental Reviews for Nuclear Power Plants This course will provide information to partner countries on how to perform and document their environmental reviews associated with environmental impact statements for NPPs. 1.5 to 2 days Now IRDP Courses (cont.)

10 IRDP Courses and Workshops ― March 2015 Safety Management and Fundamentals Description DurationAvailability US Industry Codes and Standards Course To familiarize participants with the methods by which Codes and Standards are developed by professional societies, how they are incorporated into the regulatory process by the US NRC, and to provide the participants with some insights into the purpose, scope and technical content of some of the more commonly used codes and standards pertaining to key aspects of the design of a nuclear power generating facility. 2 daysNow US Industry Codes and Standards Workshop This workshop covers the regulatory use of codes and standards, nuclear quality assurance, and then describes the major mechanical, electrical, I&C, and civil/structural codes and standards. The workshop uses animation, quizzes, and exercises to reinforce lecture material. 5 daysNow Nuclear Quality Assurance The purpose of this course is to familiarize participants with the basic concepts of nuclear quality assurance, the importance of quality assurance and how the principles are applied in the various phases of the life-cycle of a nuclear power generation facility including siting, design, equipment procurement, construction, and operation. 1.5 daysNow IRDP Courses (cont.)

11 IRDP Courses and Workshops ― March 2015 Safety Management and Fundamentals Description DurationAvailability Fundamentals of Reactor Safety (FORS) This is an introductory course to provide developing regulatory agencies with basic knowledge on reactor safety fundamentals. 2 to 3 daysNow Fundamentals of Reactor Regulation (FORR) This is an introductory course to provide developing regulatory agency with basic knowledge of the reactor regulatory activities. 1.5 daysNow Practical Basics of Civil/Structural, Welding and Non-destructive Examination, Mechanical, and Electrical This is an introductory course to provide new regulatory staff with a very basic background in civil/structural, mechanical, electrical, and welding disciplines. 2 daysNow IRDP Courses (cont.)

12 IRDP Courses and Workshops ― March 2015 Regulatory Agency Infrastructure Development Description DurationAvailability Nuclear Executive Workshop (NEW) This workshop focuses on the development of regulatory capabilities. The topics cover a wide range of issues related to the organization, staffing and training of a regulatory agency, and the development of a regulatory programs and capabilities. In each topic area, there are three types of sessions: training sessions, breakout sessions and general sessions. 3.5 daysNow Probabilistic Risk Assessment This is an introductory workshop to provide developing regulatory agencies with basic knowledge about probabilistic risk assessments (PRAs). This workshop is based on the NRC P-105, "PRA Basics for Regulatory Applications" and is augmented to be generally portable among regulators internationally. The workshop is designed to be a start at developing PRA expertise and can be supported by a spectrum of follow-on courses. 4.5 daysNow IRDP Courses (cont.)

13 IRDP Courses and Workshops ― March 2015 Miscellaneous Description DurationAvailability Research Reactor Workshop This workshop provides a general familiarity with non- power reactor designs, facilities, equipment, operating characteristics, technical specifications, inspection requirements, and current areas of concern to the NRC. It is modeled in part after the 1 week NRC course R-106, “Research and Test Reactors.” 5 daysJune 2015 Small Modular Reactor Workshop This introductory workshop is to provide information on U.S. SMR designs that are scheduled for near-term licensing by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The workshop will provide an overview of the SMR reactor technologies and their enhanced safety and security features. It will also provide an introduction to the NRC licensing process leading to SMR design certification and how a NRC-certified SMR design may be used to assist the licensing and regulatory process in another country where the SMR will be licensed and deployed. 4 daysJuly 2015 IRDP Courses (cont.)
