4 EU’s obligation to explain its functioning and policies, as well as ‘European integration’ more generally, to the public Citizen's right to know Fostering trust to the EU policies Listening to the public, and taking their views and concerns into account; Explaining how European Union policies affect citizens’ everyday lives; Connecting with people locally by addressing them in their national or local settings, through their favorite media

6 Article 7.8 General Conditions Service Contracts … the Contractor shall ensure the highest visibility to the financial contribution of the European Union. To ensure such publicity the Contractor shall implement among other actions the specific activities described in the Special Conditions. All measures must comply with the rules in the Communication and Visibility Manual for EU External Actions published by the European Commission.

7 . This manual is designed to ensure that actions, wholly or partially funded by the EU, incorporate communication activities to raise awareness of the EU support, its results and its impact.

8 The Communication and Visibility Manual incorporates: A branding manual for the Logo The minimum requirements for specific tools and activities Guidelines for the design and implementation of specific Communication Plans

16 THE LOGO The European flag consists of 12 golden stars in a circle on a blue background. The stars symbolise the ideals of unity, solidarity and harmony among the peoples of Europe. The number of stars has nothing to do with the number of member countries, though the circle is a symbol of unity. http://europa.eu/about-eu/basic- information/symbols/flag/index_en.htm

19 The minimum height of the EU emblem shall be 1 cm. The name of the European Union shall always be spelled out in full. The typeface to be used in conjunction with the EU emblem can be any of the following: Arial, Calibri, Garamond, Trebuchet, Tahoma, Verdana. Italic and underlined variations and the use of font effects are not allowed. The positioning of the text in relation to the EU emblem is not prescribed in any particular way but the text should not interfere with the emblem in any way.

20 The font size used should be proportionate to the size of the emblem. The colour of the font should be reflex blue (same blue colour as the EU flag), black or white depending on the background.
