4 A little about me… Ms. Hannah This is my first year at Bangkok Patana. I am from South Yorkshire in England and I have been teaching for 3 years. After graduating with an English degree I wanted to gain school experience so worked at a primary school in Sheffield for 3 years in learning support. I then completed an Early Years teaching degree at Bishop Grosseteste University in Lincoln. Some of my past experience includes: class teacher in Year 1; Early reading, writing and phonics co-ordinator; and ICT subject leader.

5 Daily Routine Before doors open, place bags on the mat outside. Doors open at 7:30am for our Soft Start routine. Red book on the table, bags in cubby, water bottle, self-register and feelings cups. Come and share your child’s learning or observe how the teachers interact with the children in our Soft Start (7.30-8am) Photographs on ‘special days’ only please

6 Separation Separation - We know that separating in the morning can be a tricky time. Please ensure that you say good bye to your child before leaving, this helps to build routine and cues to aid separation. Once you have said goodbye, ensure you are out of sight. Thank you

7 Daily Routine Snack - We drink white milk and have a fruit snack every day during free-flow Water – Please bring in a named, full water bottle every day Lunch at 11:30am - We eat in the canteen. The children are encouraged to eat healthily and try new things, whilst being independent and serving themselves.

8 Daily Routine 7.30am: Soft Start 8am: Carpet session (small groups – CLL focus) 8.30am: Free Flow – learning through play 9.30am: Letters and Sounds 10am: Free Flow – learning through play 11am: Carpet Time (Story) 11.30am: Lunchtime

9 Daily Routine 12pm: Playtime 12.30pm: Back to class – Mathematics carpet time 12.50pm: Free Flow / Focus groups 1.50pm: Home Time

10 Daily Routine End of the day - children are expected to leave the outdoor area by 2pm. Please ensure that these resources are left neatly tidied away. If you are waiting to collect other children feel free to go for a smoothie or read a story in the library.

11 FSH Timetable

12 Reading and Phonics Phonics: 4 times a week, taught in small groups (further guidance will be shared in parent teacher conferences, in the newsletter and through your child’s home-school books) Shared Reading: Sharing a big book with the whole class – the children are encouraged to join in with the story and develop their early reading skills Group Reading: Twice a week in small groups the children explore a range of texts with the teacher or teaching assistant. Library / Book change Ns/FS1 – Once a week change library book FS2 – Twice a week change library book, once or twice for ORT Please bring in book bags daily

13 FS2 ECAS In FS2 students will have the opportunity to sample the ECA programme from Block 2 onwards. In Block 1 we focus on settling into a good school routine and becoming accustomed to the longer school day. The ECA programme in FS2 includes Swimming, Gymnastics and Music. More information will be provided later in the Term including schedules and how to apply for a place.

14 Swimming and PE Swimming on a Tuesday and Thursday- all kits and towels named please! Children place bags inside the swimming basket. Flip-flops stay at school. Goggles are required and hair tied back please and swimming caps for long hair. 3 consecutive absences from swimming will require a note from the doctor. P.E on a Monday- please bring PE kit. Book change on a Monday and Friday(note in red book soon).

16 Home School Partnership Initial parent teacher meeting. Parent Conference every 8 weeks to share your child’s progress and share new targets. Regular parent workshops and open. Home School reading program.

17 Learning Journeys / ILD Celebrate your child’s progress and development. To mark significant achievements and outline next steps. Parent contributions are a crucial component. Don’t forget to return them if you have one at home.

18 Uniform and Equipment Sunhats labelled with your child’s name and class placed in cubbies. Please bring them to school on Monday and take them home on a Friday for a weekend wash!

19 Shoes! A closed toe sandal with a strap around the heal and Velcro fastening in a dark colour. OR black leather (or imitation leather) shoes with Velcro fastening and white socks.

20 Communication Welcome to Foundation Stage Booklet (emailed the link) ‘Red Books’ - Please check them daily for notes or messages. Transport - If arrangements change please inform us via the red book (not email as often too late) but contact the Transport Department via email.

21 Communication Parents Gateway - Please check that your child’s medical information is up to date. Email addresses / contact details up to date. (Holiday forms from Reception). Email – hamc@patana.ac.th@patana.ac.th Please let us know if routines are changing and we can support your child at school. We will try to respond within 24 hours where possible!

22 Communication Weekly newsletters and Patana news. Class Blogs – updated once a week, sharing your child’s learning experiences and also providing some useful guidance on how to support your child’s learning at home.

24 General Information Birthdays - We love to celebrate birthdays! Cupcakes always go down a treat (small ones please!). No nuts please, life-threatening risk for children in FS. No sweets /toys Class mascot – Sammy the Snake ECAs – swimming, gymnastics, Music and more in Block 2, details to follow

26 Supporting your Child at Home Set clear routines and boundaries. Independence - Packing their own bags, getting dressed Real-life experiences such as cooking, setting the table, gardening Importance of home language Sharing books Singing songs Play An early bedtime (we recommend no later than 7:30pm!)
